Haha !!! @LightRich
Don’t worry we were enjoying the fun but now it’s over. It’s okay now. Someone else will spoil it sooner or later anyway,so why not let it be and life goes on.
I’m happy to follow you.
Cheers

Congrats on attracting more than 5000 Followers @SholaIB. Posts about Followers always catch my attention, because I’m still struggling to understand the whole point of the concept. When I get notification of a new Follower, I always investigate their profile a bit, and remove them if I don’t feel comfortable. If they seem okay, I might also click the Follow Back button, but I don’t actively go after other persons to follow, apart from those.
This makes sense. I follow you because I “know” you from our interaction in the TRAC program. And because I’m following, that’s how I was notified of this thread you just started.
I experience this as well, but I always click Remove Follower when private profiles try to follow me.
Hello @tony_b
Yes, I click the follow back button if I know you and am interested in your activities. I might know you and still not want to follow your activities. Lol.
This is a very interesting and valid point. Clicking remove follower. Maybe I should start doing that as well. There are some of them I have ofen reported though. I mean I escalate them privately to the Googlers.
Happy guiding
Cheers
I don’t think making Google maps líke any other social forum will be any good. It is intended that we can’t communicate on Google maps just to protect our privacy.
I have seen some local guides adding their Twitter handle E-mail address even phone number. You can contact those with that. Those aside, privacy is needed and respected
Happy guiding
Cheers
@marcorp do you really believe most followers are so invested in the persons they follow? I have my doubts about that.
@tony_b not quite sure about other local guides but I’m my case, every now and then I check the posts of some local guides to learn a little bit about photo angles, best shots, etc.
Congratulations @SholaIB this is a big number and magic !
I just think it’s a shame that we can’t really interact with our followers like on other networks. And on Connect there are also followers, even though it’s linked to Google Maps.
Again congratulations I have 2k followers by my side
Such an honest and refreshing take, @SholaIB! I truly appreciate your perspective on quality over quantity when it comes to followers. In an era driven by numbers, your post reminds us of the importance of authentic engagement and community building—values that resonate strongly with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
By choosing to follow Local Guides whose contributions you admire or learn from, you’re strengthening global connections and creating a more collaborative and inclusive mapping community. Your approach also supports SDG 4: Quality Education, as it promotes learning through observation and peer-to-peer growth.
Thanks for keeping the fun and spirit of guiding alive—with both purpose and positivity!
Congratulations captain @SholaIB
