Thank you for the response.

Actually I did that but couldn’t fix. When I proceed to take the 360 photo, new window opens saying “Connect 360 Camera”. & When I click that, It says 360° camera not found.

Below is the screenshot:

Just click on camera icon and select Photo sphere option for capturing new 360 photo. @abhishekpatk

Yes I did that. that worked.

But Photo Sphere is the same 360° photo?

&

Is there any difference between 360 photo and Street view photo?

Thank you for the answer. @NareshDarji bhai.

Just one more question:

Is ‘Street View Photo’ the same as 360 photo? Or it is different.

Hello @abhishekpatk

My phone can capture 360-degree photos. However, I find that to be tedious.

My impression is, It’s better to have a dedicated device to capture that. You will get some more information about that in this article.

https://www.google.com/streetview/contacts-tools/

Further, I understand a 360-degree photo is a single photosphere. And that becomes a street view when you stitch multiple photospheres along a path and then publish through the app.

Hello, @abhishekpatk Street View is the name of the program. On Google maps all 360 photos uploaded will go to Street view also. For more information please visit the official site here.

Hi @abhishekpatk , please check here the detailed procedure for taking a 360° photo.

Create or import 360 photos

When we say Street View, we intend 360° photos taken at the Street Level (roads, paths) even if the word is used also as an alternative for 360° photos.

Every phone with a gyroscope can be used for taking 360° photos, (photosphere).

Many phones right now have an option to create 360° panoramas. However these photos are not suitable for being added in Google Maps. A photosphere is a spherical photo, that includes also the top and the bottom in the image.

For this reason, @NareshDarji correctly suggested to you the use of the Street View App

Thank you for the clarification @C_T

I understood that. Also I liked your suggestion of dedicated device. Thank you very much.

@NareshDarji bhai.

I understood now. Thank you very much for your all answers.

@ErmesT

Thank you for detailed information. I’ll check the links you provided.

That was my phone! I took about 140 photo spheres before it was stolen. You don’t click on “connect external camera”, that function is used only if you are using a 360 device (like the Ricoh Theta) and the likes.

For this phone, just click on “Create photo Sphere”, ensure you don’t move too quickly, so that the photos can stitch properly. Also, ensure you remember the ‘side’ you started from when connecting the orange dots while creating your photo sphere.

so, if you start from the right, after you cover all the orange dots and complete a 360 turn (circle), then, you move to the ‘top’, complete that, then, the bottom, just ensure you make your 360 following same pattern (right-right or left-left) always.

There are many features on that phone!

the only thing I noticed is; it gets hot (around the lens) when taking a “Streetview video”, too many “360 photos” or videos, have you noticed that too, or maybe that happened because of our weather here. @abhishekpatk

Thank you @Ewaade_3A

You explained that to me very well. I am using A71 since last 3 months but I didn’t had that experience of getting phone hot.

I liked that you explained me step by step how to take photo sphere. Special thank for that. The tip you gave is very good.

ahahah @abhishekpatk

You are welcome, that was my phone from May,2020 till January 2, 2021.

There are many things about the phone. It gives an experience that is almost similar to using a handheld camera device.

I am glad it got missing, I have been away from Connect for so long, because the phone motivates me to do a lot of Map contributions! The photos are crystal clear! and if you put it on “Ultra Power saving mode”, you can shoot photos for hours unending!

When the lighting is good, and you are not the one driving, you can take photos, photos that are so good! It’s almost like you stood on the road to take it.

I never realized how good the camera was until I lost it in January :grinning:

I see the photos I have done since January and I just laugh!

The editing features too are very great.

As many questions as you have, feel free to ask me, :grinning: We will use your A71 together.

I don’t know why I feel like tagging our @Giu_DiB to this post.

While the built in camera can capture some “ok” images via the Streetview app stitching of the images can be a little “interesting” at times and it’s quite a time consuming process. If you are using this method try to keep the lens of the camera in exactly the same place as you rotate, imagine it’s connected to the top of a stick and rotate it around the point it touches rather than spinning your whole body and moving the whole camera around.

You may find it easier in the long run to pick up a dedicated 360 camera, devices like the Samsung Gear 360 can be bought used for very little money these days and have some degree of built-in Streetview compatibility, another to look for is the Ricoh Theta V although I was really unhappy with the image quality and battery life when I had one. Obviously there are many other options at many other price points and if you don’t mind some work before uploading the images the Xiaomi MiSphere is still a fantastic camera for stills and often available for under $100.

Other options are the small cameras that fit into the USB C port on your phone, ones like the MADV Mini, the Huawei Envizion, Insta360 Air, KANDAO Qoocam FUN 360 and so on. I don’t use it much these days but I have a MADV Mini in my pocket at all times just in case :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you @turbotapeworm for the detailed explanation.

In earlier reply from @C_T also suggest me to have dedicated device. I totally agree both of you. I did check about Samsung Gear 360 device. That is really good option for Street View photography.

Thank you again for the other options you suggested. It seem you have a good knowledge about this. I"ll surely ask you for help if I require any further assistance in this regards.

Thank you.

Hello @abhishekpatk ,

Thanks for reaching out to us! As our members already mentioned, you can add 360 degrees photos in many ways and I’ll try to summarize their answers here. To use an Android device, you can follow these intructions.

You can visit the dedicated website to know more about Street View and for further information you can also see this page of the Help Center.

I also wanted to know that I am marking my comment as solution so it can be beneficial for other Local Guides with the same question. To know more about solutions, you can take a look at this article: How do I mark comments as solutions?
