Well, Week 2 certainly has me struggling to complete but here I am with a recap of the reviews that I’ve written in the past few days for the 30 Days, #30Reviews Challenge which you can read more about here. Last week, in Week 1, I wrote about the places that I recently explored in the southern parts of Johor and along the Desaru coast line. This week as I was making a list of places I’ve visited recently, I realised that I’ve got a fair collection of malls to review, so this week, it’s dedicated to one of Malaysian’s favourite past time; shopping!
My 10 reviews for this week include:
- Johor Bahru City Square - Shopping mall [ Map link ][ Review here ]
- Pavilion Kuala Lumpur - Shopping mall [ Map link ][ Review here ]
- Johor Premium Outlets - Outlet mall [ Map link ][ Review here ]
- AEON Mall Kulai - Shopping mall [ Map link ][ Review here ]
- Tasek Central - Shopping mall [ Map link ][ Review here ]
- Bangsar Shopping Centre - Shopping mall [ Map link ][ Review here ]
- IOI Mall Kulai - Shopping mall [ Map link ][ Review here ]
- Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru - Shopping mall [ Map link ][ Review here ]
- The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey - Shopping mall [ Map link ][ Review here ]
- R&F Mall JB - Shopping mall [ Map link ][ Review here ]
You can also check them out in the public list here. And here are some photos and screen shots of my reviews:
Writing reviews for shopping malls can be a bit difficult since it has many things to write about and you’d want to keep your review concise but helpful. And I also find that I tend to rank malls well if they have a good variety of shops and F&B (food & beverage) lots. If I can find good places to eat, that makes me happy and the shopping experience improves!
My shopping mall experiences are a bit of a mixed bag. Some malls are really nice to explore but wow, they are pricey!! And unfortunately, the flip side is also true; the affordable malls are boring and bland. And surprisingly, when I was writing out this post, I realised that I didn’t review Suria KLCC which is a mall that I like and frequent partly because it’s easy to get to from my parent’s place. I do have a review written but it was from 6 years ago and here is what I wrote:
Oh, how my writing style has changed and also how I feel about the mall has improved considerably since then! Needless to say, if you’ve reviewed a place a while ago, it makes sense to go back and update your review. Lots of things could change and an updated review is really helpful.
How does your review of shopping malls compare to mine? If you’ve written a review for a shopping mall, feel free to share them in the comments below. And if you want to join in the fun of writing reviews, don’t forget to share your reviews on Connect with the #30Reviews tag and mentioned me too so that I can have a read! In Week 3, I’ll share reviews of my recent trip to Melaka. I hope to show you the various tourist attractions that I’ve visited and most importantly (to me, at least), the wonderful eating places that I’ve discovered! Yum, yum! So stay tune and follow me on my journey of 30 days…30 reviews!

Hello @AdrianLunsong
I admire your energy and enthusiasm when it comes to local guides. You are quite exceptional. I see why you have been a guiding star two consecutive times !
A different topic entirely now Adrian. Not complaining, just a comment. All my reviews in the last month or so does go private. Therefore I am taking a break from writing reviews till the problem is rectified. How do you manage that? It seems it’s a general issue.
Sorry I can’t take part in this challenge this time around. Maybe the next challenge, you are a bag of ideas when it comes to connect. Well-done man.
For now am occupied with these 36 walk meet-up. I have my 2nd one tomorrow on an Island here in the South South.
Wish me well. Wish you well too for these reviews.
Cheers

It looks like a complete post @AdrianLunsong the picture taken by you is good , the stars used in reviewing the places is a good idea because if someone not interested in reading our review than they will just see the ratings .
The energy in your post and in your YouTube channel is very great and inspiring.
Have a nice day

@SholaIB This year has been a tough year for me when it comes to contributing to the Local Guides program. Mainly because of work as I tend to work long hours or am too tired at the end of the day to spend more time staring at a computer screen. I keep telling myself to reign back on work so that I don’t burn out!
At the moment, I have written 686 reviews in total and under public view, it still shows 686 but under the Review tab, it shows 679 reviews. So I guess 7 reviews have been marked as private. It looks like two from the recap post, one from Week 2, three from Week 1. Hmmm… definitely just the recent reviews.
Do enjoy your photo walk!! I miss those! It’s kind of hard for me to organise anything similar because I’ve not yet found local Local Guides and I also don’t have a car and in Malaysia, it’s hard to get around without a car!

Thanks for the very kind words @Mukul_Anand . I also noticed that only the first few lines of a review are shown. So I put the “Detailed review below” to let folks know that it’s more than just a custom star rating.

Hello @AdrianLunsong
Very kind of you to reply in details, thank you. As per your Job,you need it to be able to keep contributing to connect and the maps so keep your head up. I believe you are well capable.
I have tried a few reviews since I last typed the first reply and it goes private after a while I have about 33 private reviews now so I am afraid of having too many and getting suspended or something. My apologies for not participating again !
I am sticking to photos, edits, drawing roads and other such activities. My progress has been slow really these days. I like reviews because I move and eat out alot. I do shopping too but anyways…
I enjoyed my photo walk meet-up,both of them. One solo and the other with fellow guides. Hopefully you’ll find local guides in your area in Malaysia soon.
Cheers

Hello my dear friend @AdrianLunsong
I’m happy to inform you that I could add around 22 new reviews in the month of May.
I have added a few more, but I edited them recently to add photos or which I couldn’t review fully while visiting.
Thanks for the challenge and opportunity.
Greetings from India.
