3 Days Vacation : Our Journey to Bogra বগুড়া জেলা

Bogra, officially known as Bogura, is a major city located in the Bogra District, Rajshahi Division, Bangladesh. Bogra is famous for Food “Dohi দই (Yogurt)” and it’s historical archaeological sites (মহাস্থানগড়) This city is also known as the capital of North Bengal of Bangladesh.

On 7th November started our journey from Kollanpur Bus Counter, Dhaka me with two of my friends. It was night ride and road condition wasn’t good at all. So we didn’t sleep at night. We were tiered while reach Bogra in early morning. Take off from the bus we went for breakfast. Started breakfast with khichuri but we didn’t mistake to enjoy the test of popular misti dohi after khichuri. It was amazing…

After breakfast we went our friend’s house to take rest and refresh. After two hours rest we come out to visit the city. it was friday. there was a prayer time in mid day. So we’ve to move fast to complete our travel spots.

First we went for Gokul Medh (Behular bashor ghor:বেহুলা লক্ষিন্দরের বাসর ঘর). Gokul Medh is an archaeological site in Bangladesh. It is an excavated mound in the village of Gokul under Shibganj Upazila of Bogra. It is known locally as Behula Lakshindarer Basar Ghar. The Archaeology Department of Bangladesh estimates that it was built between the 7th and 12th centuries. It is said that it was the bride chamber of Behula.

After that we went for jumah prayer in famous Shah Sultan Balkhi Mahisawar Mazar also known as Mahasthangarh Mazar.

I like the archaeological site especially, it looks really interesting. It’s fun trying to imagine how it looks hundreds of years ago.

I’m still wondering about the “Dohi” you are talking about. What is that exactly and why is it famous in Bogra?
