Last night at around 7 pm I uploaded about 26 photos/videos to Google Maps. Now, only 17 hours later, some of them already show views, as seen below. I believe this is faster than what we have become used to. What do you think, @WilfriedB ?
The video on the left was uploaded last night, while the still photo on the right was uploaded about a week ago to the same place. This type of consolidating photos uploaded on different days in the same month is something I have not seen before.
It is certainly faster than what happens usually in average, but in some very rare cases, I also saw some views within 12 hours.
Not sure, I saw this when the dates of uploading was a week difference, but several times when they were a couple of days apart. Also this type of consolidation changes over time. If those two pictures show up together today, they might not tomorrow. Tracking my photo contributions daily, I can tell the sequence frequently changes slightly - sometimes, a photo moves several days back or forth.
No news to me, but certainly for most of us. You only realize, when carefully watching the contributions daily and both effects happened very rarely to me.
Yes I had also observ that our photo count is now taking much less time before it was showing in Android devices, but very bad experience while edit places that not allowed visitors, so maney fake and misleading listing is avilable on Google Maps.
Now they are not closing.
Not tested about the photos, but as my experience the edits again are reflecting in minutes on the map, while for several months there was a several hours delay between accepting an edit and receiving its approval email and applying on the map.
About consolidating different days uploads, I also experienced it and it is available for a few months. I think it is better than previous conditions.
I think we should stop making edits like adding places or making edits on the places which are permanently closed or temporarily closed until the issue is solved
I agree it is currently a waste of time to suggest edits because they are all auto rejected. But editing temporary and permanently closed places have never been possible.
Same here. Yesterday I wanted to change the name of an Indian Restaurant, which had the words “Indian Restaurant” as part of the name, as well as the category and it got rejected within seconds.
Seems like this thread has been completely derailed from the two original focus points. There are other threads where the failed edits can be discussed.
Yes I have noticed the quickness of the views a day ago
As I have been keeping track on the day I post photos and the days when I receive views this for a few weeks .
But what hasn’t changed that much is the total view counts except for a few weeks back my total view counts was updating at least every 2 or 3 days..then it went back to normal wait for a week or so .
Adding to the conversation. Yes I quite often receive views within 24 hours.
I also think it depends how fast Google updates, Sometimes it is hit and miss. Last few days there has been no update on total views.
Recently I am also seeing uploaded videos and photos become the Featured Spot.
Correct @TerryPG. Since Tuesday Oct, 21 until this morning 7:30 am CET, I see the same number on both, the desktop and the toy app.
However, as of now 08:57am CET it increased on the mobile App to a value, what I counted as the sum of individual views between yesterday morning and this morning.
