Dhobi ghat is Mumbai’s 140 year-old open air laundromat, and it is also estimated nearly half a millions peices of clothes from hotels, hospitals, homes are sent here for laundry service.

It is the world largest open air laundry in the world and it is very popular attraction among foreign tourist

Dhobi ghat has seen this occupation passed from one generation to the next. it is also known as mahalaxmi dhobi ghat.

It has also gained named in guinness book of world record under most people hand- washing clothes at a single location in 2011.

THE WASHER-MEN ARE CALLED AS DHOBI

ITS ANNUAL TURN OVER IS 100 CR (INR)

DHOBI GHAT SCENE ARE ALSO CAPTURED IN MANY BOLLYWOOD MOVIES

Some of the wealthier dhobi’s have now given up manual washing and now installed large washing and drying machines.

I have to visit this place twice as i wanted to take my best shot and when dhobi’s (washer-mens) are full in action. its start early morning from 7-am to 8pm. Afteroon is like relaxed mode when clothes are washed and kept for dry.

Hi @Ewaade_3A yes they have face this problems many times mostly clothes went missing but after looking into this problem they have made a laundry card in which they have a proper count how many clothes came and went back.

Group of people work together so that they can avoid such kind of problems.

This is world largest laundry can you believe this :grinning:

Hi @Giu_DiB thank you so much I am really happy you liked my post. You know @Giu_DiB I had to visit twice this place to get the best shot 1st time I went in afternoon I couldn’t get enough next day early morning 6am I woke up and drove for an hour as this place is 45km far from my place.
