Sri Rajarajeshwari Temple is one of the most famous and ancient temples in Dakshina Kannada, located on the peaceful banks of the Phalguni River near Polali, Mangalore. It is known for its divine atmosphere, beautiful traditional architecture, and rich spiritual history, making it a must-visit destination for devotees and travelers.
According to history and local belief, the temple is believed to have a history of more than 1,500 years and is dedicated to Goddess Rajarajeshwari, a powerful form of** Goddess Durga**. One of the unique features of this temple is that the idol of the Goddess is traditionally made from a sacred mixture of clay and medicinal herbs, making this temple spiritually special.
The temple looks stunning from outside, and the architecture inside is even more beautiful with detailed wooden carvings, artistic pillars, and a calm devotional ambiance. The surroundings are very clean and well maintained, making the visit peaceful and relaxing.
The Vasthaa Mantapa and Sri Durgaparameshwari Gudi located on the right side of the temple premises are beautifully designed and add to the spiritual charm of the place. On the left side, Sri Kshetrapala Gudi is also located where devotees can offer prayers peacefully.
Shree Ullaklu and Shree Magrantayi Daivasthana located inside the temple premises are also beautifully maintained and reflect the rich spiritual and cultural traditions of Tulunadu. The entire temple complex gives positive vibes and a spiritually uplifting experience.
