Dear fellow Local Guides,
I hope you’re all doing great.
I am absolutely thrilled and incredibly humbled to share a significant milestone with all of you. Yesterday morning, I was notified that the photos I’ve collectively shared have now reached over 100,000,000 (100 million) views!
.
It is truly a mind-boggling number. When I first started sharing simple reviews and pictures of places I visited, I never imagined that my humble contributions would help so many millions of people get the information they need to discover something new, make a decision, or navigate their destination.
Reaching this point has made me reflect on my own journey as a Local Guide, which spans different cities, countries, and even continents. For me, being a Local Guide isn’t just about the points or the views; it’s about connecting with communities and creating a small positive impact.
My journey in a nutshell:
My journey began around 2016/2017 in Singapore. It was there that I started making my first active contributions, capturing the unique blend of food, culture, and architecture that the city-state has to offer.
Following that chapter, I moved to Portugal in January 2019, and I am now proudly based in Lisbon. I’ve been contributing to the Google Maps from here ever since, exploring the ancient streets, capturing the in front of stores, historical places, local food, and accessible features.
And, of course, I am also deeply proud of my roots and being a Bangladeshi where I contribute to sharing and improving information.
Sharing photos and knowledge from these diverse places has enriched my life, and I am so grateful to this amazing community for the support, encouragement, inspiration, and friendship.
Let’s keep contributing and remember to stay safe!
With gratitude,
