Ten years ago, I made my very first contribution on Google Maps without realizing how much it would shape my journey. Back then, I was just curious — updating a location, adding a photo, or writing a review. It felt small, but over time, those small actions grew into something much bigger.
Over the last decade, I’ve contributed:
- 10,417 edits, photos, and reviews
- Reached over 16.7 million views worldwide
- Earned more than 54,000 points as a Local Guide
But numbers alone don’t tell the full story. For me, Google Maps has been more than just a platform — it has been a way to connect with people, places, and communities.
Through Maps, I discovered how important it is to put Cambodia on the digital map — to make sure small businesses, local restaurants, hidden temples, and natural wonders aren’t forgotten. Every contribution is not only about data, but about identity, culture, and opportunity.
I’ve seen how my photos helped travelers find their way, how reviews supported small family shops, and how edits corrected wrong information that could mislead thousands. Being part of this community also opened doors — connecting me with other passionate Local Guides, and even leading me to organize meet-ups, workshops, and community projects to improve our digital presence.
Looking back, I realize this isn’t just about me — it’s about all of us. Every Local Guide who shares a review, a photo, or even a simple correction is helping to build a more accurate, more helpful, and more inclusive map for the world.
As I celebrate this 10-year milestone, I feel proud, grateful, and motivated to continue. There are still many stories to tell, many places to highlight, and many communities to support.
Here’s to the next chapter of my mapping journey — and to everyone who believes that sharing knowledge can make the world easier to explore.
