10 Simple Google Maps Tips and Tricks for Exploring Cambodia

  1. Download Offline Maps
Save your area for offline use by going to Settings > Offline Maps. This helps when you’re in rural areas like Chi Phat without stable internet.

  2. Check Real-Time Traffic
Tap the layers icon (top right) and select Traffic. It’s helpful for Phnom Penh’s rush hours.

  3. Save Your Favorite Spots
Mark places like restaurants or landmarks as Saved Locations for quick access later.

  4. Use Khmer Language
Switch to Khmer labels in Settings for better local navigation if you’re more familiar with the language.

  5. Explore Public Transport Options
Google Maps shows buses and tuk-tuks in major cities. Search your route and look for Transit options.

  6. Share Live Location
Use Share Location with friends or family for meetups or while traveling in unfamiliar areas.

  7. Find Hidden Gems
Use the Explore Nearby feature to discover cafes, attractions, or local markets near you.

  8. Check Business Hours
Before heading out, check if a shop or restaurant is open. Google Maps often lists operating hours for most places.

  9. Use Street View
Preview streets, landmarks, or remote locations (if available) to get familiar before visiting.

  10. Measure Distance
Tap and hold a point, then select Measure Distance to see how far it is to your destination.

These tips will make navigating and exploring Cambodia with Google Maps much easier!

Good tips !
Offline map is very useful. Last day, I did trekking at Phnom Kulen, so it gave me a lot of navigating assistance as the place has very weak internet connection.
