If you have a car, the #1 thing in the L.A. area I recommend is driving from San Pedro to Palos Verdes on Palos Verdes Bl. It's one of the most beautiful drives. Then stop at the Point Vincent lighthouse. There is a park on a cliff overlooking the ocean (free parking) with stunning views of the coast and Catalina island. Bring a picnic!
