Thank you @ShobitDawer for sharing this seemingly unbelievable post. Rats are treated as pest in Nigeria and often times aren't allowed to live a second once sighted. I'm sure @U-royFelixA, @OnyedikaBenjaminJ, @HelloSamsonR, @iykmba, @Sayo, @pwanaduku, @VictorOmebije, @ChiomaJ, @UzomaJ and many more Nigerians can attest to that.
@ShobitDawer wrote:Karni Mata Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to karni Mata at deshnoke 30 km from bikaner in rajasthan. It is also known as the Temple of Rats.
The temple is famous for the approximately 25,000 black rats that live, and are revered in, the temple. These holy rats are called kabbas, and many people travel great distances to pay their respects. The temple draws visitors from across the country for blessings, as well as curious tourists from around the world.
Here are some pics of temple

@SanyaOdare @HelloSamsonR Actually this temple has religious values as these rates called devotes of Hindu goddess karni Mata. They don't harm anyone.

@OnyedikaBenjaminJ Bush rats are real carriers of lassa fever, they infect it to the domesticated ones. I dont think @ShobitDawer rats in this temple are infected by such

@OnyedikaBenjaminJ @HelloSamsonR @SanyaOdare May be due to virus. But no effects reported till now. 25000 rats in a temple.
