Hi all!
Sharing photos of a trip to Spinnaker Tower.
Waterloo station in London is a popular stop for a star attraction London Eye and also caters to the three tube lines and outstation trains to the south of England.
Hop on to a Southwest train to a south of England destination Portsmouth harbour.
Portsmouth harbour promenade offer shopping, waterfront cafes and eateries.
Spinnaker Tower is located on the promenade premises and is now called Emirates Spinnaker Tower.
Glass viewing galleries on the top deck offer fabulous views of the south sea English Channel.
Children enjoy the glass flooring on the top deck looking down at the water from high above, but some adults are too scared to step on it!;)
Talking telescopes help gain some knowledge about the area including views on the Royal Navy Submarine museum across.
Wightlink catamarans from the Portsmouth harbour station provide services to the island across called Isle of Wight.
Isle of Wight has many visitors during the summer. There are island bus services that offer round trips on the island ring road. Don't forget to take the top deck front seat for great views of the island.
Island typically has a lot of dry hay roof houses and well marked roads.
Isle of Wight's big attraction is the Needles Bay which tapers to small islands at the tip. The white chalk below the green grass is limestone.
It is hard to expect a factory out here and least of all, to our surprise- a glass making factory! Visitors are welcome here to view the process. Reminds me of a wonderful short 1958 film on glass by director Bert Hanstraa.;)
A small part of the collection at the shop.
Alum Bay glass shop. Of course can't leave without picking a piece from here!;)
All in a day's visit, back to London by train.
Hope you enjoyed it!
Cheers!
