I had not been back to my home town of Ofenerfeld near Oldenburg in over 50 years, since I emigrated from Germany to the USA at the age of 9. My family lived in Ofenerfeld and operated a Gasthaus by the name Ofenerfelder Kru for over 100 years. I recently visited the town, the family business is no longer operating but I photographed the house of our good family friend and neighbour Heinrich Kunst. The Heinrich Kunst Haus is now a museum and a good example of what the Ammerland region used to look like. Many of the old farmhouses still exist but most are not kept in the original state like the Heinrich Kuns Haus.

Please let me know if you enjoy this post, I have more of the region and am working on producing a book for publication.
