The ability to mark a business as temporarily closed exists. It must be done by the business itself via Google My Business. They are the ones that know the details of such closures and will be aware of changes in the planned opening; so it would be preferable for them to handle it. If they don't then we need to mark the place as closed.

Thanks @Flash,
I knew a business could manage their hours and opening times for holidays and other events but couldn't remember if temporary closures were included. And what you say makes sense and has a logic to it as it is an observation at the end of the day whether a place is closed or open if the business hasn't claimed their listing. I appreciate the insight and advise.
