[RECAP ]Ramadaan 2017 Mumbai Trail #1

We reached Chinese N Grill at 7.30 pm only to find out it will start serving after 8.30 pm. Since the crowds were quite sparse on the Masjid street, we decided to try the Hyderabadi Badaami Haleem stall. And like last year this didn't have the oomph factor of its initial years. Hopped a few steps to Burhanpur Jalebee for their famous piping hot Mawa jalebees. Once firmly esconced at CnG we went for our favorites, the Bheja Nihari and the Ramadhaan special, the Mutton Chaap. While the Bheja Nihari maintained its above par consistency of previous years, the Mutton Chaap did not reach the high notes of our previous visits. While the meat was succulent, the gravy, while being quite good, was not superlative . Next we went to savour the phirnis, naankhataai and much more of the landmark Suleiman Usman Bakery to get that mithaas dose. Off we went up north; a bunch of us went to Noor-e-mohammedi so that the newbies could have a taste of their legendary Shammi kebabs and Chicken Hakimi, while the veterans made a beeline to Bohri Mohalla. After the long walk we cooled off with a few scoops of Taj Ice creams and a few glasses of Imam Sherbet wala which were what the doctor ordered on a muggy evening trail. And then returned to Haji Tikka's to their Kheeri Kebabs and Tawwakal's phirni and Malpua. Throughout the trip, crowds were quite less making this a very enjoyable and leisurely trail. And lastly we had fun trying out the sodas at Idris. Falsa is the clear winner amongst them all. We wrapped a few Khamiri rotis for home and downed a few more Falsas for the road 🙂
