[RECAP] LAGOS FOOD CRAWL 2018

The 29th of May 2018 marked the opening of the largest food fair in Nigeria and food lovers from across Lagos were thrilled to start a foray into the world of food and drink with vendors from across the country. Local Guides in Lagos gladly came out in their numbers to not only join in the fun but to also explore for the sake of sharing the experience on the Map.

With over 150 food and drink vendors, manufacturers and producers there was more than enough to go round.

Starting by 11am, we met at the venue and walked round the Landmark grounds as designed for event - it was a truly beautiful layout with a very warm perception created by the designs.

The venue had two sections - the indoor exhibition floor and an outdoor food court with a farmers market for locally farmed produce. All vendors had booths neatly arranged with walkways and open spaces effectively defined.

With a similar food crawl having held last year, it was easy for the Guides to get excited about the opportunity but the experience was definitely new and fresh for many of the attendees most especially because of the participating vendors.

Many of the vendors showcased Made in Nigeria food and drink produce, with an increased awareness on health conscious foods there were quite a number of options of low fat, high fibre sweets, confectionaries and drinks.

Going round the stalls, we had the opportunity of tasting and getting to learn about the various ways some of the foods can be prepared and eaten. With various masterclasses included in the lineup for the day, some guides also ventured in to join those.

Our goal for the food crawl was to

  • Meet as many of the local businesses in the food & drink industry
  • Introduce the Google Maps opportunity to them
  • Explore their produce with a view to sharing feedback nd the experience for others to enjoy too

As a foodie, was so happy to be here to feel different kinds of food on ground and drinks to top it off. I could recall my very first big meetup was also a food crawl here hosted by @SanyaOdare. Thanks @Lelekena@ for hosting this and I'm happy I was here with other local guides to put our food vendors on the map.
