Much as I love free stuff I think this is an improvement.
The prime reward for being a Local Guide should be the joy of providing *quality* / useful / interesting information for people living in your community, people visiting your community.
Unfortunately some Local Guides provided low quality information to quickly accumulate points perhaps to get free drive space. For example somebody added the same one word "Nice" to hundreds of reviews.
I think the best reviews are short and to the point.
The best reviews are written by people who have knowledge of the place they are reviewing - often but not always by visiting the place they are reviewing.
So basically you are happy that the promotion stops for everyone else but would still welcome keeping it yourself.
That's the definition of selfishness.

That is because we adopted Local Guides Program early on. We have put more efforts than you to build the maps till now and we have earned it with our hard work. Its not our fault that you were lazy or less educated about Local Guide program.
If you believe that this is wrong, how can you justify the level system? That's the whole point of it.
I reached Level 4 before the March 17, 2017 deadline. I read the help document (https://support.google.com/local-guides/answer/6345112?hl=en) and it says I have 30 days after I reach Level 4 to redeem the promotion, but I do not see anything to redeem in my local home. How do I redeem this?

Same here, I've been awarded level 4 before the deadline, but have not been able to have this promotion applied to the account. Doesn't seem any way of directly contacting for assistance.
The docs say that you can claim a code at the following address, but there doesn't appear to be any way of doing it.

I clicked the link, and I was able to see my page with all the rewards I had earned, but Google Drive was not listed! Level 4 was clearly unlocked, but the Google Drive storage was missing. It wasn't added to my account automatically -- I checked.
Anyone else having this issue / know of a way to solve it quickly?

30days from the day u reach level 4 . That's why it's not show there in ur local guide home page.
