Why to be a local guide?

I am the camera man behind my partner's YouTube channel. (Danielavoyyvuelvo) I got along her project a year ago. And as the man behind cameras I do contribute as a local guide wherever we go. The thing is even that I enjoy helping others I recognize that the gold (literally and figuratively) is not clear, for instance, can I become a down to work local guide and get some kind of financial aid to keep on traveling and contributing to Google? Where can this lead me to? Is it worth it? Because at the end, it's my time on the line, a good helpful picture, comment, meet up or answer WILL TAKE TIME AND DEDICATION.
