I am a university researcher and I am studying and teaching travel writing at the University of Plymouth in the UK. I am trying to find out some statistics on how many people are writing about places and their travel experiences today. On certain OTA sites I can see that there were 600 million posts in 2017 which reviewed tourist destinations and attractions. My big question here on Google Local Guides then is 'How many Local Guides are there in the world?' How many posts have we made in 2016, 2017, 2018 and so on?
