Quick question about taking vids with an android phone...

Hopefully I put this under the right category, but if not I apologize for it and use the excuse I still consider myself a *newbie* to the system.

But I tried to take some short videos recently of places I've visited, but couldn't find a way to mute it while taking it.  I assumed it would be distracting to those who looked at it?  

Can anyone fill me in on how to take a short vid without the background noise? or should I keep it in? I'm using a regular android smartphone (Blue R1 HD to be specific)

Sometimes in google maps, we don't want to share Video with the Audio but i think there is no option to mute microphone during taking the video.

i have faced that same issue many times.
