Local Guides sharing information helping others

We live in an era dominated by huge mega-corporations, giant businesses with near limitless resource and vast capital reserves. And people are increasing fearful of the web and how data is used and abused on the internet. The internet can be a great positive tool for knowledge sharing and communication. And I think this is where the Local Guide idea is a positive project.

There is something pleasantly local, almost quaint, about the concept of the Local Guide.

A person who honestly shares their personal views on a particular business, large or very small, with other users. They do this freely and largely in the interests of other people. Because it’s fun to have opinions and views and to share these with others who perhaps aren’t aware of where the best place is to get a coffee near the National Gallery in London. Or wonder how best to enjoy the nightlife in Bogota, Colombia. Or perhaps aren’t entirely sure where to find Barcelona’s best tapas bar?

At it’s core Local Guiding should be about pooling knowledge for the benefit of all users within the community.
