Hi everyone.
This is my first question, so be gentle with me 🙂
I’m wondering about the following:
I have noticed that one of my local grocery stores doesn’t appear in the “category listing”. Let me explain.
In the Google Maps mobile app, I select the “groceries” category button, and the grocery stories around me appears, with the term “groceries” in the search bar. However one of the stores doesn’t show. It is named as “grocery store” on its page, so why doesn’t it appear? Curiously enough it does appear if I search “grocery”.
Any suggestions?

Hi @Islandstone,
Thank you for asking this questions.
I also want to know what shops will be included in those Nearby categories.

Edit: I just checked, and now the grocery store rightly appears in the category listing, after clicking the "groceries" button. I'm not quite sure why it suddenly appears in the listing now, though.

What do you mean, can you elaborate? 🙂

@Islandstone, thank you very much for updating.
I can think of a theory:
1. Once POI is approved, it can take time to be included in Maps, let's say it is 24hrs.
2. Once POI are in Maps, it can be searched within Maps by Name.
3. Search by Category is kind of Google Search. Maps information can take time to flow to Google Search engine, let's put that to 48hrs.
4. As usual with Google Search, it return certain TOP results. So it can also take time for a POI to gain enough relevance to be included.

@YK1001, that makes sense. Thank you.
