Accessibility of Public Buildings in India

Making public buildings accessible in India has been compulsory by law for many years yet most people are unaware of this.

Policies and laws do not make change unless they are properly sold to the public.  Education regarding these matters have to become part of the curriculum.

Students of architecture are still ignorant of the building regulations and standards as it is not a subject properly taught in the curriculum.

All the really significant efforts for educating the public come from NGOs and individuals.

Googlemaps has a worldwide coverage and unique educational access for all.  It is a great tool for promoting awareness of only it was properly conveyed.  Google could up its game in the building accessibility feature by making more specific information available because at the movement the support advice information is very vague and could lead to buildings being wrongly described as accessible simply because they have a slope at the front.
