Working out the Number of Hidden Reviews & Photos

I agree with @TerryPG , this is another great post following on from your previous Monitoring our photo views post @LightRich and once again you have shown a knack of explaining things in a simple way and I’m certain many Local Guides will appreciate this.

As you’ve pointed out, this has been a very hot topic and the subject of much discussion amongst Local Guides for quite some time. Yes it isn’t straightforward to work out how many reviews and/or photos you have hidden and as you say many Local Guides don’t even know that they have any hidden! And if that’s not hard enough, then you have to keep checking and working this out, week after week, month after month, so as both @AZ_2021 and @Mo_TravelleerX have said, with this System you are able to much more easily see and on a much more timely basis, if any of your reviews/photos are hidden. You can see how simple it all is from the charts that both you and @Mo_TravelleerX have kindly shared. What could be easier than that!

You’ve clearly mastered yet another power-feature of the System Ricardo and once again have shown that the leaderboards are much, much more than just about rankings of Local Guides!

Thanks @Mikeinthefalls for your nice comment and continued support and appreciation. I have to say, like you, I also very much enjoy the conversations, sharing and learning that follows on from the leaderboards. The mission is that through all this we will become much better Local Guides, make better quality contributions and thereby achieve better outcomes in terms of reach and impact of our contributions on our communities.

Very nicely stated and presented @Mo_TravelleerX . I love the way you have shown the hidden numbers overlaid on your charts, a very simple way of showing a call to action.

@tony_b you said “now there are 7 hidden reviews and ALL photos are hidden” however, having just had a quick look at your Maps profile, I don’t believe that this is true and agree with @LightRich 's recommendation that you should, use the System right now and update your data which should only take you a couple of minutes and then check to see your current hidden reviews/photos status.

Keep in mind, and perhaps many don’t realize this, you can use the System to update your data any time and you can update as many times as you like during the month. What counts for the next month’s leaderboards is your last update, whenever that should be in the month :slightly_smiling_face:

It was way back on July 22, 2021 that I wrote " As many know, and well covered on many posts here on Connect, it is quite often very difficult, in fact near impossible to find historical issues with our contributions even after using some complex searching techniques as mentioned in various Connect posts. So if you agree with the terms and conditions of participation and correctly provide all the information requested, where possible I will provide you with a Health Check on your contributions that will show you any issues found with and where you can improve your Maps contributions! Furthermore, this is not a one time health check, it will be done monthly! So I will monitor the health of your Maps contributions month by month and the big advantage of this monthly health check is that while your contributions are still relatively newly added on Maps, unhealthy situations such as any violations of Google’s Maps User Contribution Content Policy will be much easier to find and will enable you to correct them in a much more timely and efficient manner  Where possible, you will be referred to relevant clauses of the policy :sunglasses: "

In her comment of July 24, 2021 @Ewaade_3A wrote “Adam! No way!” and in my reply I said "

We’ll give it a shot @Ewaade_3A. Nothing ventured nothing gained!"

There’s still a but to do but hey, I say, mission accomplished :slightly_smiling_face:

Hola @LightRich .

Yes @AdamGT I know it CAN’T be true, but it is what the charts said. And the same charts never said that in previous months, so I assume there’s a glitch. Now I’ve updated the info, it shows the current status as 503 photos visible and 9 hidden, with the preceding 15 months as ALL hidden, when there was never previously any indication of anything hidden up to the December edition. The reviews continue to show 7 hidden, and I’m not going to spend time investigating those.

I understand @tony_b .and both myself and everyone else have had a similar historical representation due to a number of reasons including the fact that we were not entering all the required data at the time and it is only after recent deep testing with a select group of Local Guides that I made changes to the system as intimated by @LightRich . Those changes have now been fully implemented and updated charts are now available. The important thing is that with these changes, and having now updated your data, your pie-charts correctly reflect your true current situation.

Hallo @MortenCopenhagen ,

Hi @Raggafreak

Thanks for tagging me, but I don’t understand the context. Maybe you meant to tag @AdamGT ?

Cheers

Morten

Hi @Raggafreak

I think @MortenCopenhagen is correct and you in fact intended to tag me. Anyway, M458 is not an error message! Instead, in order to help you, you’re being advised to read the relevant details on the T100 System’s online context sensitive help information. In this case, you need to first select the General item on the system’s main menu. Then select the Links item on the submenu and read Item #12 on that page which will tell you what you need to know about that part of the system! Hopefully this has now clarified what you need to read.

Hallo @AdamGT ,

@LightRich a post by another LG today prompted me to come back here again. The system by @AdamGT is showing I have 7 hidden photos and 4 hidden reviews. I opened my review page in a private browsing session and compared it to my signed in account, but I only found 2 hidden reviews.

I’m not sure how to even start on the photos. Those were 2 reviews out of 260, but scrolling through 1102 photos to find 7 seems really impossible.

Your greeting in Spanish reminded me of my school days, learning foreign languages many years ago. We felt really smart asking Que tal, and getting a response Nada de nuevo.

Aside from that, I’m still contemplating going through and searching for those hidden photos. Perhaps I can start from the oldest and review one year at a time. But from past experience, I expect this issue would resolve itself with me taking absolutely no action at all.

Sometimes i also write in english but it requieres a little bit of effort from my side!

Connect is a global community, and Spanish is quite acceptable. It’s not a problem, as there is a built-in translator icon to be easily clicked by readers so we can see in our own language.
