Why did this very ordinary photograph get more than one million views on google maps?

This is a very common experience @curatorofmemory and in fact, it is what gave birth to the idea of the Leaderboards and the refernce to the most viewed as our stars. Back in Janury 2020 (see Your most viewed single photo), I asked th question, Is there a reason why sometimes the least expected photo can be the star?

Congratulations on your one million+ viewed star however, I’m puzzled because it clealry shows people’s faces, and in particular, that of a child. When talking about privacy, the Maps User Generated Content Policy specifically mentions that we should not “publish photos or videos in which people are identifiable without their permission.” When talking about Prohibited and restricted content, the policy specifically mentions that we should not post “face in a photograph or a video” without consent. It is therefore highly recommended that we ensure that faces are not clearly visible, or use a blurring tool on the image before posting.
