There is a Chinese dish many Western people don’t know. Those who know it, are really afraid to eat it. But what we are talking about? We are talking about CENTURY EGGS.
Century eggs are, first of all, old eggs. They are not 100 years old, but they are surely several weeks or even months old (their average age is 3 months old). Some people are really afraid to eat them: is it dangerous to eat old eggs. Obviously eating expired eggs is dangerous, but centenary eggs are not expired: they are preserved thank to a special solution. Eating them is not only safe, but it’s also a gift for your mouth: they are REALLY delicious.
I hope to make other Western people know more about this food… And to assure the other ones who already know it, you are not going to die for eating them: they are part of various Chinese recipes and many Asians eat them… They are really delicious and they are absolutely safe to eat.
Not only, I often eat them at the restaurant: in one of the most favorite restaurants of the Chinese community in my city. What else? I invite everyone to try the Delicious Chinese recipes based on the century egg, for example, Tofu with century eggs… Or even plain century eggs!
It’s great @user_not_found . If you try them soon, don’t forget to tell if you enjoy them. For me, they are very delicious and I often eat them especially with tofu.
I was skeptical about consuming century eggs, but once you try it you might be addicted. Egg white is cola brown and yolk is moss green would gross anyone out. They’re also call thousand year old egg mostly use in porridge with shredded pork or appetizer dish in high-end restaurant. Totally safe to eat. No doubt.
@Albert_L10 these eggs were among the first dishes I have tried with my Chinese friends before being actually one of my favourite dishes (especially with fresh tofu). I have always trusted Chinese cuisine and knowing these eggs were eaten by many population in Asia made me eat them the first time without even the minimum concern! But there are still people out there who are really concerned about eating a similar kind of food.
@Petra_M you can eat them whenever you want, they are part of the everyday Chinese cuisine. In Taiwan it is common to eat them with some slices of fresh tofu.
Also you can find these eggs in the Chinese groceries, already prepared. They are really delicious and have a consistency which is different than that of normal eggs (also they are usually duck eggs).
