If you are sure that your review is not violating any Google’s rules but still got shadow banned, it means it’s an error occured just like in this thread: Known-issue-RESOLVED-Unpublished-reviews-and-photos-on-Google . Don’t worry it’s not your fault. Error does happens.
You can know whether your review is shadow banned or not by check it from other account (eg. your friend’s account) or from incognito mode then you can check it yourself.
If the business owner asked about your review, you could show it from your own account.
Sorry about your salty feeling as a result of hidden reviews. We have all gone through that one time or the other and still go through it. Nevertheless,it’s part of bring a local guide am afraid and you have to get used to it and move on. You can always report here anyway which is nice. If your case is genuine, your reviews will be released. Happy guiding and cheer up.
Unfortunately, my new reviews are not visible again even though they comply 100% with Google’s guidelines. Please release the reviews. Thank you very much.
@ThomasSp7 Unfortunately i must totally agree with you! Even if it isn’t so, you get the feeling that some companies are favored and the negative reviews go not public.
I’m afraid that you’re right. Google uses some kind of algorythm that protects some companies and blocks reviews if it considers you’re publishing too many ones (more if there are negative). Obiisha unlocked no less than 25 of my reviews (all of them correct and within Google policies)… But for example, the Porsche one was published and ten minutes later, blocked again. I wrote yestarday a review about Hyundai in my town… and can you just suppose? Yes, blocked too.
I’ve seen too that some great companies are rated 4.1 stars and no negative review will be published by any means or different accounts, so I think Google gets well paid for holding this companies at high rate.
Google let’s you write the review, gets it approved, shows up on your profile and you get the points and no one gets to see it publicly . Can happen to positive or negative reviews. It is like writing your review on a piece of paper and then throwing it in the bin.
The terms used in this thread are not precise. The actions Google automatically takes against Local Guides submitting low quality contributions are:
Making contributions private (hiding them so only the LG who made them can see them). LG’s are not notified about this.
The term Banning or Suspended is one step up in severity. That is when a local guide gets expelled from the Local Guides program. LGs are also not notified about this but he/she will no longer be able to post on Connect and his/her level and title as a local guide will no longer show on his/her profile on Google Maps.
I’ve started to notice that some of my reviews are being taken down, even though I have no clue why. I don’t see how anything could be considered offensive. In fact, my last review is so banal it’s boring. Here it is:
I can confirm from your public profile that you have added 48 reviews and only 42 of them are public.
Google has automatic filters that hide your reviews so only you can see them. This can happen when some of your reviews violate the guidelines, including: Prohibited and Restricted Content Format Specific Criteria (See under Text Reviews and Captions)
Read about typical review guideline violations here.
Hi, my reviews are not showing publicly over the past 9 months. I have already checked Prohibited and Restricted Content and Format Specific Criteria and I am not doing anything that goes against the guideline and I have about 1,000 reviews that are not publicly available.
My wife also has the same problem that about 1/3 of her reviews are not shown publicly. Can anyone from google take a look at my account and tell me what I can do to fix? I add many local businesses on google map and there are many good places that should be discovered by people in my area…
I’m a local guide Level 5 and just realized today several of my reviews are hidden (I know they’re not “removed”). Someone tell me why my reviews are hidden and how I get them to show up publicly. I get 2 of them are arguable, fine. but the others don’t make sense as they are based on my actual experience, and as far as I’m concerned shouldn’t violate guidelines. I’ve tried editing a couple of the 1 stars reviews, and they still aren’t viewable. I feel like Google is censoring our experiences which is quite scary and makes Google Reviews a lot less trusting!! Some even have likes, like they were up for a bit then taken down.
