Uniqueness of Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine, despite old stereotypes

@ErmesT , sorry for a delayed answer but I had to go back to my work after a short break (during which I couldn’t help peeping at notifications  ) while your comment needed much time.

I’m always happy when my posts interest people who are known for struggling for great content and especially when this content is about my native land.

I’ve read the post about the wine meet-up before. It was hard not to be jealous, indeed.

The salt mine is our area is very young compared to the one in Krakow. Salt mining started only in the late 19th century. Before that, people got salt by vaporizing water from lakes and wells. Since 1881, the actual mining started with drilling and blasting. And starting the 1970s, miners have been using excavating machines. The mine is still operating, so only a small part of it is accessible for visitors. I think this is also one of the reasons why the route is not so well elaborated and designed in a museum and touristic sense if comparing with the mine you visited (The other reason is the long lack of touristic development in the region and old-fashioned approaches).
