There seems to be a resurgence of photographers exploring the old tech. My family had a Tin Type portrait taken in 2019 during the All Soul’s Procession in Tucson, Arizona. The photographer had a special tent set up to process the plates while we waited. It was pretty amazing.
I have a collection of old film cameras that have been found at thrift shops or auctions. There was a time when I had access to a lab, so I would shoot and process my own images to see what kind of magic would come from these old, discarded cameras. I enjoy all of the little things that make the camera undesirable - light leaks, odd focus, creaky internals.
Ok, my fawning and reminiscing is done. Thanks for the unexpected opportunity to geek out a little on photography history.
