Thanks for reminding me and everyone else about the @katydarhel’s behind the scenes work on many different aspects of the Leaderboards including the infamous Name Game. Yes I recall you giving Katy the “Detective” nickname and someone else once asked me if she also sometimes went by the name of Lucy
ps: How could you not have made the meet-up over coffee with Katy in Toronto happen?
I’ve taken a look at your profile @katydarhel, and I say its better to be an excellent Level 7, than a sloppy Level 8 or 9. All beginners should follow your advice.
I love your story and all the background history. Congratulations on getting highlighted here so early in the series.
Dear @tony_b, I am very grateful to you for appreciating my contribution. And thank you very much for your sincere congratulations on getting into the ‘Top 100 Local Guide Spotlight’!!!

This is very interesting, tell me what name game you are referring to, and why the nickname detective?
[/quote]
@Yulochka I’ll let @TerryPG respond to the “Detective” nickname but let me explain what the Name Game was all about.
To coincide with the posting of the Top 100 Local Guides in each Country Leaderboards which was the very first Top 100 leaderboards post for 2023, I added the GIF shown below to my Connect signature. The featured 9 different Local Guides were just like you and me here on Connect and everyone was invited to guess their names. Rules and conditions of entry were specified and points were awarded to participants (see here). However it didn’t end just there as the Local Guides in the GIF changed each month through that year and points were accumulated month-by-month until the finale and the ultimate winner(s) were announced.
The “Detective” @katydarhel was my graphic designer/illustrator throughout the Name Game and you will see a reference to this in @TerryPG’s closing comment here. In the end it was a very close finishing line with @JustJake@EvaBar and @TerryPG coming in at gold, silver and bronze positions. I know well that a number of Local Guides including Jake and Terry would just love me to run this game again, but sadly I have just been too busy to being able to oblige. However, we must ever say never
By the way Yuliia, do you know any of the names of the Local Guides in that very first Name Game GIF?
Schön so viele interessante Dinge über @katydarhel zu erfahren @AdamGT und Katy näher kennenzulernen. Die Bilder aus Neufundland gefallen mir sehr gut.
Ich wünsche alles Gute weiterhin
@AdamGT
Keep this good stuff coming!
It’s personal, it’s inspiring, it’s teaching us how others do it and what we can do better.
@katydarhel
Nice to meet you. Never seen the 2017 Twin Peaks season but the original 1990s seasons rocked my world at the time and I’m still a huge Lynch fan.
Being myself more in the @Herve_Andrieu camp of covering large volume and map everything, it’s good to see the selective side of careful contributions.
IMO, the days of pushing for billions of views are likely gone for good even with unicycle and 20k-30k photos a year, but valued maps contribution will be there for ever.
Thank you for your comment and wishes @Annaelisa. and I’m pleased that you are enjoying the spotlight series. I have to tell you, I didn’t know about @katydarhel 's love of Newfoundland but having been there myself, I can understand why Katy loves it there.
Impressive to see how your contributions span 11 countries and 50 cities — a remarkable achievement.
I like this photo a lot ‘Burrito Boyz’ it looks great.
Your journey is inspiring and motivating. It is a great read. Thank you for sharing @katydarhel , and thank you, @AdamGT, for this wonderful spotlight.
