Top 100 Local Guides Reviews (September, 2025)

Great to see the Reviews Leaderboard, it definitely adds to the excitement, @AdamGT. However, I was surprised to find my name missing from the list. Upon checking the Top 100 System, it seems my Reviews Data has disappeared, even though I updated it as recently as last month.

It is great to see this and also to see my name in the list. Great job. But there must have been something wrong in populating the table.

@AdamGT. When i updated last month the option of updating Review views was not there. I have updated it now. It is 1, 005. 069. So i guess i should be at 44.

If you’re missing but think you should have been included in this first reviews leaderboard then please first check the Top 100 Leaderboard system to make sure that you have been using this system to track your reviews.

I’ve never kept a personal record of my Reviews data, and I don’t see it anywhere in the Leaderboard lists in the VIP lounge. I see a provision for it in the data entry page, and if that was always there, I would’ve been filling it monthly. Based on my numbers in the app today, I should be listed at position #65. Please see screenshot below.

Another great leaderboard @AdamGT I checked my numbers and they have increased since you based numbers on reading on OCT/1 but it is in line with what I reported and considered correct.

Adam, is this all new then?? When I logged in, my two spaces were empty as well, but I didn’t fill them in, pending further instructions. But if they were always there in previous months, I know I would’ve filled them in at the time.

Oops!! I didn’t see it say Level 10 when I read this thread a few hours ago. Now that makes my claim to @AdamGT about position #65 invalid.

I’m afraid, you overlooked it @tony_b After I joined the T100, in early 2024, I always entered the badge data and review data. I remember for sure, since those are the two areas, I must use the mobile app to gather the data.

Yes that’s correct @WilfriedB. Every month I use my mobile to check badge data for photo and video information as directed. No doubt the prompt for reviews data would be in the same place.

Looking at it now, the Submit button is AFTER the request for Reviews data, so there’s no way I could miss it if it was there. I’m assuming I did it every month, but @AdamGT is only now starting to use the data today for the first time ever. We’ll get his answer soon I expect.

Hello everyone and thanks for your deep checking @MortenCopenhagen.

I’ve now also checked the top 4 entries and confirm your findings. Disappointingly each of these Local Guide have manually entered incorrect values. Of course I cannot possibly manually check the data of all the Local Guides listed on the initial Reviews leaderboard let alone that of the thousands of Local Guides participating on Top 100 Leaderboards however I can assure that we will work together on finding a way to improve the accuracy of these leaderboards.

For now, I have manually corrected the Maps review data of the top 4 listed on the initial Reviews leaderboard and will shortly post below an updated Level 10 board. I’ll also tempt fate and post Review leaderboards for other Local Guide levels and if you suspect any errors then the best way to help is to take screenshots as Morten has done and post them in a comment below.

Currently, I have 837k review views and your table says only 701k. Unlikely correct unless the accelerated review views kicked in big time. If self reporting is required it could be correct.

@MortenCopenhagen I’ve just checked your historical data and it looks like you haven’t been using the Top 100 Leaderboards System to track your Maps reviews data since 30th December, 2024. This being the case, it’s unlikely that the accelerated review views has kicked in as yet. It looks to me that this is also the case with both your photo and video badge data

Will you be categorizing people by their Level here? Does level matter? It’s showing Level 10, and I’m just a Level 9, so my data wouldn’t appear in this list anyway. BUT, if this list is Level independent (I vote to remove the Level categorization in this list because many contributors only do reviews, or photos, etc, and shouldn’t matter what level they are in if someone is exclusively writing reviews), then my reviews contribution would place me in slot 75, barring other omissions, edits. (235 Views, 175 Reactions, 367,613 views)

Level does matter here @shunsader as the initial board only covers Level 10 Local Guides as indicated by the heading. As I mentioned in the opening of this topic, I’m travelling at the moment so this is very much a draft and will be expanded along the lines of the other posts in the Leaderboard series. Also, as I mentioned in my reply to @MortenCopenhagen, I will shortly post below an updated Level 10 board and will also tempt fate and post Review leaderboards for other Local Guide levels.

Let’s touch on Reviews for a minute. Unlike photos, reviews can be sorted. For me, I choose to sort “Newest”. True, Google has its own Algo to sort out what it ‘thinks’ is a appropriate review the same way it does with photos, BUT at least this list is sortable. It’s also searchable. I’m already recognizing in advance that those who want to ‘game the system’ have plenty of opportunities to do so with reviews, the same way that search engine reviews have been optimized over time. I DO like the idea of you sorting by views, and not review count.

Indeed it is for the reasons you mention that I decided to sort by views but I will also provide a board that sorts by average views per reviews and in the back of my mind am thinking about also adding relevant Review boards on the Country leaderboard series.

OK, you’ve found my vulnerability. I’ve been travelling a LOT this past 2 years, and in a perfect world, would make the time to review all the hotels and meal locations I’ve been to. BUT, time always seems to be my enemy. By producing a list that strongly aligns to what I should be doing (this one), I’m more apt to completing reviews whenever there’s even a free minute or 2, instead of doing something else.

I’m pleased to hear that this new leaderboard series idea will motivate you to contribute more in this area of out Maps contributions Steve.

I’ve just checked your Maps review data and can see that you also have been using the Top 100 Leaderboards System to track your Maps reviews data. Here’s a screenshot of what I see for your Reviews Data:

Given this, I suggest that you logout and log back in again or even try clearing your cache as your data is definitely there. But then, why aren’t you included on the initial board? As I’ve mentioned above, after having made some corrections I plan to repost the board so do check this new board when it’s posted.

Thank you @MrFreez and I’m pleased you like this idea for Review leaderboards. I have checked your data and indeed there is something wrong but not with populating the table. The problem is simple. You have not been using the Top 100 Leaderboards System to track your Maps reviews data. In fact the last time you updated your review data was May 2004 Here’s a screenshot of what I see for your Reviews Data:

That’s strange @curatorofmemory because the option of updating Review views has been there since May/June 2024. However, please note my comments above and as you’re a Level 9, you should not appear at #44.
