Well done @Yulia_Tikhanycheva and @Junaidjvk , wishing you well and great progress in the Local Guide program…
@AdamGT Please check participant number 45 @JitendraKumarprasa has overstated his video views numbers (almost by 2 million). He is featuring in 6-7 tables because of this. He is also featuring in country leaderboard. I hope he respond soon and clarify this
Great catch @Trail_blazer and that’s the sort of deep checking that is needed and as you have indicated, errors like this can greatly impact on the leaderboards.
@AdamGT I’m quite impressed that the cover photo is of a KFC restaurant. My KFC photos always seem to do better than my other fast food restaurant photos. In the current environment of delayed view counts, I have a KFC photo this week of interior seating, which showed view counts on the first day.
Well done @Annaelisa . We all appreciate the extra effort that mobile users have to go through to add the detailed views table but it does help get a quick snapshot of what is happening with your star.
That’s interesting @tony_b . I can now see everyone rushing out to take shots of their nearest KFC
@Trail_blazer , In response to your comment here, LG Jitendrakumarprasa has confirmed that the data is corrected in Top 100.
@PrasadVR It’s great to hear that @JitendraKumarprasa has corrected his data but as you will be aware, for obvious reasons he cannot correct historical data including his August data so I have made some corrections on his behalf.
@PrasadVR well he can still be featured in country leaderboard if he adds his 360 star photo of Ghansoli which has massive 700k views. He will be top LGs in 360 degree for India.
@Trail_blazer , Thanks for your kind suggestion. I will be happy to help @JitendraKumarprasa to add 360 star photo of Ghansoli.
@AdamGT Yes, I am aware we can’t correct our historical data. Thanks for taking the time to correct his data.
Yes but I hope they’ll be more influenced by your cover photo @AdamGT , rather than my apparent success. KFC is listed among the world’s Top 10 fast food chains, so I assume one of the best known and most popular.
I knew KFC was up there and I’ve always thought that McDonald’s would also have to be @tony_b
You’re probably correct @AdamGT , as I posted a fairly successful McDonald’s photo from one of my overseas trips. But we don’t have a Macdonald’s at home. Rather than use my own words, let me copy and paste here what is found on the web:
“McDonald’s was a huge flop in Barbados because it didn’t understand what people there liked to eat. In fact, it was such a failure that it only stayed open for six months in 1996. The people in Barbados like healthy, flavorful foods and aren’t big fans of beef.”
Wow @tony_b that’s something I did not know and I’m really impressed to hear that Barbadian’s " like healthy, flavorful foods and aren’t big fans of beef."
Yes @AdamGT we love KFC because they sell chicken.
Big crowds lined up to try McDonald’s but they didn’t sell chicken, and their beef burgers were absolutely bland and tasteless.
Maybe it was an idea before it’s time, because we now have Burger King and they’re doing “okay”, but their drivethrough lines are still shorter than the other fast food restaurants.
When you say you now “have Burger King and they’re doing “okay”, but their drive through lines are still shorter than the other fast food restaurants”, I’m imagining that you might mean seafood restaurants as being a Caribbean destination I’m thinking seafood would be very popular, perhaps even Flying fish with cou-cou
No, I was making a comparison between the two well-known international burger restaurants that attempted to open branches locally. McDonald’s being a complete failure in 1996, and Burger King starting in 2013 with moderate success over the past 11 years. But they still do not attract the size crowd as a chicken restaurant like KFC and our local Chefette which has a mixed menu listing chicken, pizza, rotis, and burgers.
Thanks for mentioning our “national dish” Flying Fish and Cou Cou @AdamGT . That was a typical household meal in my parents and grandparents’ time. Not a fast-food restaurant item, and very limited availability at table restaurants. Cou Cou is not done in our house, and my children and grandchildren have not ever had it. But yes, we all still enjoy Flying Fish in other ways.
And just to keep this discussion on topic with the title of this thread - My original Star Video was a Burger King building, but when I took a video of a KFC meal 5 months later, it very quickly rose to Star position and knocked BK down to #2.
Got it @tony_b ! Chicken it is! And is Flying Fish and Cou Cou still the national dish?
From what you have said about McDonald’s and Burger King, and the preference for chicken, I can understand why KFC video rose to star position.
Yes @AdamGT . That’s still listed as the national dish in any literature about the island. But cultural infiltration, and the modern tastebuds of the younger generation, makes it seem like it is no longer so. Note my earlier reference to my children and grandchildren.
