Top 100 Google Maps Local Guides Star Photos (December, 2025)

Yes January is a very busy month for me @claude_richard and here I am catching up with a backlog of messages that go back some 13 days. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Anyway, you’ll be pleased to see that finally the December Star Photo Average Views/Day board has been corrected and your star is included with an average starviews/day of not 5,000 but 5,230.

Apologies for my late reply @Yaryman. so a belated congratulations on the increased star views. To update you need to use the T100 Leaderboard System. You should update regardless of whether there is a views increase or not. In the case of no increase in views, simply update the date you observed this in the new month. It only takes a few seconds to do this.

@AdamGT, I filled out the Google form, I believe I must have done something else.

I’ve checked on the backend @rtsayles and can’t see anything from you. As stated on the registration form, after you submit the form you will receive an email with a copy of your answers for checking. Try again Robby, here’s the link.

Adam,
Thanks for getting back to me.
You link worked fine. I logged in just fine.
I thought all that was required was to enter the new total, and hit save at bottom.
That didn’t work. Then I went to the linked posted, and updated the screen shot, and the text in the post to reflect the new number. Again after hitting save, I got this message.
The link works, I used “check your link on connect”, that took me right to the post.
Here is the link I used.

Not sure what I am doing wrong.
Thanks for your help.

UPDATE - Per Wilfried explanation, I uploaded a new screenshot to the 2026 Album of stars and the system then took my update with new higher view number.

So I guess my new question is, to update an increased view number, do I also need to post a new screenshot, or just just change the date/view number in my Star Section?

Wilfried,
Thanks for the suggestion.
Adam, gave a link that logged me into https://top100localguides.com/
I logged in, and went to star photos in my profile.
In that section you can just change the views number.
Not sure if you have to create an entirely new post in the T100 system.
I did update a new screw shot on the original post, and put the updated views in the post.
They save feature of the system didn’t like the format of the link to the new post.
Not sure why. The link works.

Hello @Yaryman
not an entire post, but a comment with your screenshot. There is a new thread for the 2026 album of star photos: Local Guides 2026 Album of Star Photos Every year, you need to add your screenshot again and then update every month at least date in the caption, even if the views did not increase.

Uploaded a screenshot to the 2026 Local Guides 2026 Album of Star pics, and used that link in my top100localguides. It was accepted.
Thanks.
So what in this post would I update every month. ( even if no change )

Unrelated question - there is a leaderboard for most views per day of star photo.
It would seem under the new system, that number would fall every month.
Before the Feb 2024 change, my star photo was getting about 8K views a day.
Now it takes 2 or 3 months to get 17K views.
It’s still the number on photo for the listing 2.5 years later.

There is only a little movement in the board of most views per day of star photo. The old “Stars” don’t change much or not at all and the newer photos never reach those high numbers. And you are correct, at least for my photo, the average decreases every month, yet not enough to be reached by any newer photo.

Hi @Yaryman
The advice given by @WilfriedB is correct and the idea behind this side of the Leaderboard System is to show full transparency and not to burden anyone with having to make unnecessary routine updates. The important points are:

  1. Regardless on whether your numbers change in a month, update the date (e.g. 30th of the month) on the Leeaderboard System to indicate that as at that date the star views haven’t changed.
  2. The System will generate an auto caption for you and for Pro users, will even generate a updated views history table.
  3. Edit your post and add that caption. This will show the views unchanged and the date that you recorded this.

Well done and taking control!

Just found this for a prove:

So, the average/day is constantly decreasing, as you guessed @Yaryman, except for June, July and November 2024, I assume, I forgot to update at the end of those months …?

@WilfriedB @Yaryman it looks like a falling star.

It does @AdamGT, but not only after Feb 2024. After posting in summer 2023, I saw thousands daily, but at some point in fall it dropped to dozens or less.

But my top 30 posted before 02/2024 are not doing any better. The first in my ranking of those being posted after 02/2024 is coming up slowly and is on position 12 of my overall ranking now.

If the total does not increase while the number of days since uploading naturally increases, the average will continue to fall.

Tony - Before Feb 2024, my star photo was getting 50K views a week.
After Feb 2024, my star photo was getting 16K views every couple of months.
My point was, the view numbers dropped 90% after the change.
I would argue the only views per day numbers that should now be tracked are photos that were uploaded in March 2024 or later.

My best photos post March 2024 are viewed at about 1,000 view per day.
I know Adam is doing a BOATLOAD OF WORK to track all this.
I would guess he isn’t thinking, “Hey let’s create a new category”.
But that new category would be the most exciting with changes happening all the time.

Another thought for a new category.
Most views for a photo taken from motor vehicle with engine running and car in drive.
At least 90% of my photos are taken that way.

Good for you. My star is showing zero per month ever since then.

Wilfried - while my star photo views per day drops, my views per photo increases each day. I currently have 29,757 average views per photo.
53,146,864 total views divided by 1786 total photos uploaded = 29,557 average views per photo.
It was 27,258 views per photos when I first started tracking on Nov. 25, 2025.

@Yaryman since you mention average views per photo, I checked mine too: As of today, I only have 7,208. Probably because I tend to post more than one per listing and/or have a different set of place categories or other some reasons. I also don’t do any cleanup by deleting “less performing” photos.

Comparing the averages over time, I see also an increase from 3,997 in March 2024; 5,776 Dec 2025 and 7,040 Dec 2025.

@WilfriedB - Quite sure my average is higher because I ONLY EVER post one image of a location. Always from the outside. Almost always from my truck. Almost always straight on. About 99% of them are taken with a DSLR. All of them are quickly adjusted in Photoshop. ( horizontal and vertical lines straightened )

Also higher because most all my photos are of locations that serve food.
I avoid national chains. I mostly look for a Mexican or Asian food restaurant.
I will post a photo to fill a location that might not get any views. But that is rare.
Pretty sure very few are looking for this location ( taken from a cruise ship, with ZERO views, but filled a very vacant spot on my map )
