Top 100 Google Maps Local Guides Photos (May, 2024)

Hello @Annaelisa

Your figure of 45,959,905 is in fact your total media view; that is photo, video, and 360 spheres if you have added any. This figure is insufficient to get you on the Top 100 Media Views leaderboard however, 24,441,745 is your photo views value which gets you onto the Top 100 Photo Views leaderboard. Perhaps my comment here will help explain this. Let me know if you are still unclear.

@AdamGT wow that made things way more complicated. Look I don’t understand this at all and no clue what you are asking. I guess I m stuck and cannot make this happen. It’s ok. I can barely concentrate.

@AdamGT

Diese 24.441.745 gehört nicht zu meinen Zahlen, schau bitte was ich geschrieben habe, das sind die richtigen Zahlen per 30. Mai, bzw. im T 100 System stehen meine richtigen Werte.

Hi @AdamGT I just noticed on the Top Average Views Photo Table that at #3 Morten Copenhagen Views maybe wrong . I think a number got transposed somewhere and his actual total should be 74,000 + views rather than 744,000 +views per photo.

** @AdamGT so I will ask one more thing here I noticed. When I go to those pages, I actually see all these totals filled in already. I really don’t care about 4 videos, they never get views. How are those numbers getting stored there? It’s pretty accurate a tad off but acceptable. Are you saying I should go to that page each month end and input them syself then submit.**

2nd question what is a sub 0 thing or whatever you Said mean and how do I correct that part for the tp 100. Those numbers in those fields are the same numbers. They are already input. This is what causes confusion. Unless I have to double check them then hit submit myself? Sorry if this is chaos.

Hallo @StevenBerlin

Wow @AdamGT !

Thanks for including that pic as a cover image in this post. I must confess that only when i saw it in this post i got a sense of how beauty it is (if i can say that about my own pic).

I felt very moved when i saw it and read again the description. I don´t know, maybe i feel like a bit nostalgic right now and i´m not like that very often, haha.

Thanks again Adam. :raised_hands:

I’m really impressed @StevenBerlin , that’s excellent that you did that and yes you should check these numbers on or before the end of each month and make any corrections needed. It’s really a simple process and helps improve the accuracy of the leaderboards and also behind the scenes, builds a much more accurate profile for both historical, health checking (e.g. Hidden photos and/or reviews), and forecasting purposes etc, features that you may probably not as yet be aware of (see for example this post).

Now regarding your 4 videos, even though you don’t really care about them, it’s because you have added 4 videos to Maps you do need to follow those simple steps and double check and if necessary update the Photo and Video volume and impact data etc. If they are wrong then yes update and select the Submit button. It’s only by doing this that you will appear on the both the Top 100 Photo Views and Top 100 Average Views per Photo leaderboards, and you should be listed there! Regarding the superscript [0], it is explained at point 8 of the readme section, which is always a good idea to at least browse through when the leaderboards are posted to see if there are any changes that might impact or benefit you.

I think the difficulty that you are having is simply that you haven’t been following the discussions on the leaderboard posts but now that you have at least logged in to the Leaderboard System you have a better idea on how to proceed. If ever you have any doubts, questions, concerns, ideas or suggestions then just post a comment on the relevant leaderboard post and I, together with all the many fellow Top 100 Local Guides can together address them. In the meantime, get well and keep doing what you’re doing with your excellent Maps contributions and show many of us the achievable.

No need to apologize. It’s not chaos from my end. We’re all here to help you in whatever way we can.

It’s a great photo and it just had to be featured @LightRich . I think we all sometimes when browsing through the photos we have taken we reminisce about it and the time and place etc and feel a bit nostalgic. You’ve taken many great photos and no doubt we will see more of them featured in the future. By the way, is the link that I added to the La Pila trail correct?

@AdamGT thanks Adam. I am somewhat trying. How on earth can I find my videos among over 10,000 submissions. If I believe 4 is correct can I just use the number 4? I only care now about being out of that zero mention and being in he top 100list. Let me know or if any one else reads this let me know.

Lastly, should I enter those numbers in today or are they already properly calculated somehow

Yes finding your videos especially when you have contributed 17K+ media is not easy @StevenBerlin but this was discussed at some length some time ago and @MattGatlin came up with a technique for this and you will find a link to this at Item #7 on the Leaderboard System > General > Links section. However, in reality there is no need to do this if you follow the simple steps detailed on the data entry section of the Leaderboard System. The numbers you need are easy to find and enter.

To be out of the zero mention and be more accurately featured on the leaderboards, simply check and update the your data and especially that regarding photo and video volume and impact as we discussed previously. However please note that entering those numbers now will not impact on the already posted leaderboards so I suggest that you do it now so you at least have done it once and see how easy it is to do, and then make sure to check and update your numbers as necessary again before the end of the month so that you will be more accurately represented on the June Leaderboards. You should do this each month (see When to Check/Update your data).

I can see that you are now really getting your teeth into this. Well done Steven.

I just checked and the link is not the right one. The trail is not mapped in Google Maps because it runs throught a very closed forest where the treetops don´t allow the path to be seen in the satellite view. I´ve tried a lot of times to add it unsuccessfully.

I think the link to the closest neightborhood to the trail that is also called La Pila can work to indicate the location.

Anyway i want to share an image the shows that path as a reference.

Thanks again @AdamGT

@AdamGT . I just spent 1 hour entering in exact amounts in all fields. When I hit submit it says you have entered in a wrong amount. No matter what I do it does not submit or upload and it does not say which box is wrong. Can this really be so hard !

Having trekked in many places myself including for example the Everest trails, Annapurna, Camino de Santiago, Appalachian Trail), just from looking at your photo and Map @LightRich , I would love to one day do the La Pila Trail. May I add your trail image to the cover of this post?

@AdamGT I can no longer log into the leader board system. I have so much stress in my life right now. This is not helping. Sorry I did try

I’m sorry to hear that it has taken you an hour when it should only take a few minutes @StevenBerlin but it’s good in a way as you will see how to get this right now rather than at the end of the month. But let it go and come back to it when you have time but let me say that if the System is telling you that you have entered an incorrect value then most likely the System is right.

When you have time, let me know exactly what message are you getting from the System and secondly, in my last reply comment I showed you the numbers that you should be checking and updating if necessary for the Badges section. So just make sure that these are the numbers that you are entering.

But once again, let it go for now and look at this if and when you have some time. No need to apologize as it’s great to see that you are at least trying. Don’t stress just take care.

Hello @Annaelisa

The number 24,441,745 may well not be one of your numbers but take a look at the video impact number that you added on the Leaderboard System and you will see the error that you made!!! You would have seen a System warning message when submitting your May numbers but perhaps you did not read and act on that message. You must check the numbers that you are enter both before and after you submit. GIGO = Garbage in = Garbage out :joy:

Let me ask a few others to confirm or otherwise that their numbers on both the Media and Photo Views leaderboards are correct: @PrasadVR , @Rednewt74 , @MattGatlin , @tony_b , @TerryPG , @JustJake , @Trail_blazer , @LightRich and @IzzyOz . The reason why I ask is that if the numbers for other Local Guides are correct then it is more than likely that you have made an error because I use the same formulae for everyone  I know my numbers are correct
