This Is Indonesia #TelukSumbang

Teluk Sumbang ( Sumbang Bay) is part of the Biduk Biduk sub-district, Berau and is directly adjacent to the East Kutai district.

On my 3rd visit to Biduk Biduk, I was finally able to get to the Teluk Sumbang . Yes, I usually go to Teluk Sumbang by sea, take a charter boat and become a tour package.

By landroad, it’s actually fun, only because we pass through the logging lane belonging to the timber company, the road conditions are practically not recommended for private cars to pass, unless a 4×4 car can easily pass through the logging path which is a stretch of large rocks. For a car class SUV or the like, it is highly recommended to be careful and use a skilled driver to face the steep road terrain.

And drive in the morning and in the weather that is not raining.

This is to avoid bad things that could happen on the logging route for approximately 6km.

Why did I choose the land route? Even though the road is damaged, on either side of the road we can see large trees that are hundreds of years old if I’m not mistaken, because judging from the size of the tree trunks and heights that cannot be found in urban forests or in forests near residential areas. It feel like on the shooting location of Jurassic Park  … crossing the logging road, all green and lush, trees on the right and left.

And if you are lucky, sometimes Burung Enggang, a typical East Kalimantan bird that has become an icon, we can find dancing in the branches of the tree. And we can meet a herd of monkeys of various types (be careful if you want to give a herd of monkeys food).

After about 6km through the damaged road, we will cross a smooth and new asphalt road. The government of Berau district is carrying out a road construction project to Teluk Sumbang.

At this time when I visited, the road construction project was still reaching Lamin Beach.

But don’t worry, because the When we enter the Lamin Beach area, we will be treated to an incredibly beautiful view.

Coconut trees grow neatly lined along the road. The beach with white sand and clear, turquoise water is on our left.

That’s why I chose the land route to get there, Teluk Sumbang, there are many beautiful views that cannot be seen by sea. (but it all depends on your choice, landroad or sea, all of them have advantages and disadvantages) attention please if you choose the landroad route.

If by sea , we can rent a wooden boat complete with motor for IDR 800,000 or according to the agreement between us and the ship owner. You also can Meet The Dolphins At Biduk Biduk if you use boat.

After traveling approximately 2 hours from Biduk Biduk, I arrived at Teluk Sumbang, and until here we will see there is a wooden bridge that only can be crossed by humans, because the conditions are not safe, the construction is already worrying. Here many fishing boats are moored here.

The people here are very friendly, they will happily greet visitors like me. And invite us to stop by their house. The children here also look happy if someone comes to visit their village. They enthusiastically show fishing skills to us.

Uniquely, the village here are mostly immigrants from Sulawesi Island who have lived for generations, while the local population is the Basap Dayak tribe. On my visit yesterday, I met and talked with two women, one of whom was from Dayak Basap tribe.

It’s an amazingly peaceful and peaceful village and beautiful with panoramic views of the open sea combined with green hills. Oh yes, there is no internet network here, so it is very suitable for visitors who really want to forget for a moment the life of the modern world.

Truly a trip which is amazing for me. Glad I can share this story with all of you.Thank you for reading my article :hugs:

I’m glad if my writing can bring those who read it, they can feel the atmosphere at the location. Hopefully in the future the hospitality and natural beauty of the Teluk Sumbang will be maintained and remain that way, even though more visitors have come. forget the routines of the modern world and after returning to the city, they can practice the values that are owned by the local community, which, as you said, sometimes we forget about trivial things, even though they are small, if they are done, they will mean a lot. Thank you dear @PattyBlack for your appreciation and thank you for always waiting for stories about the beauty of Indonesia :hugs:
