I am using a compact Sony bridge camera, series DSC, with a Carl Zeiss 50x zoom (24 to 1200 mm) and a five axis stabilizer.
The stabilizer is super helpful, as you can use the 1200 mm lenses without a tripod with 1/30" of second (that was impossible with a traditional 36mm film camera). My best time for shooting photos of the moon is blue hour and sunset. The blue nuance is in fact the color of the sky, minutes before the dark.
The white cat was really a fortunate coincidence of lights, an impossible shoot, as he was seated on the most lighted point of the wood, with the dark of the shadows all around. Of course, I am always looking for this kind of images, but this is an opportunity that can happens once on a million
I’m not very at home with the technical characteristics of cameras, but now I’ll know what to look for if I decide to get a camera for detailed dusk/evening shots. To me, those are some of the trickiest photos to take and require really special equipment.
giving a list of technical details is a simple way to impress people but I will try now a different approach:
The quality of that camera is not comparable with a reflex, or with a mirrorless.
Strengths and weaknesses:
Lower quality of a reflex, need more light for a good photo.
Cheaper: You can buy a good bridge camera on a price range form 300 to 500 €. All in one: You have only a camera with a very powerful zoom, for a total weigh of 650 grams
Definitely not the camera for a photographer, but if you are a photography lover, like I am, just think about that
That sure makes it easier to understand, @ErmesT . The bridge camera does sound like the best option for photography enthusiasts (I’m one, too!) who wish to get good quality photos for a reasonable price. Thanks! I’ll check out what’s on the market now.
In addition, the five axis stabilizer is an helpful tool to get super stable photos and videos even without a tripod. It is the best approach to a semi-professional way of taking photos, with an option to switch everything to manual control and start to experiment / learn how photography works. You have good teachers, like @GeorgesHR very close to you
@ErmesT great proposal! I’ve always been so into looking at the sky! I prefer sunrise or sunset but on countless nights I’ve found myself frozen looking up at the moon while I do things in my backyard! Btw congrats on your selection among the Friday Favourites! Looking forward to see different sides of the moon from all over the
yesterday i was a witness of a bright moon that i have never seen in middle east . It was like a flash light from the black sky. I couldn’t control myself and take a picture by my cellphone
