When I try to tag a user with an _ in their name I face this problem on my android phone using Chrome:
When in Tagging mode where the dropdown suggestions are available on the screen, then the tagging mode is exited as soon as I hit the _ (underscore). This makes it impossible to tag users and moderators with usernames containing an _.
It is a relatively new issue.
I’m using my Huawei P30 Pro running Android 10.1.0.181 and chrome version 87.0.4280.101. Also I use the swift keyboard ver 7.6.9.7.
I have not tried alternative browsers. Can do if needed.
Thank you for reporting this issue, do you have it only on mobile? And can you please try by using a different keyboard? It might be that the underscore fires some kind of event on the Swift keyboard getting you out of the tagging mode.
For testing I’ve tried on my desktop, here where I’m replying, and I can’t replicate the issue. I’ve tried also on my Android device by using Chrome browser and the default Samsung keyboard and can’t replicate there as well, wherever I type the underscore the tagging searching popup stays always there filtering also the underscore.
Now I’m using Gboard as keyboard. And I’m able to tag @C_T without the problem. So we can conclude that Swiftkey is responsible for this issue. Never the less it is still an issue.
@MashaPS I hope you see this reply also. HAPPY new year to you too.
Very good, I’m glad to read the issue has been already localized into the Swift keyboard, thank you for the further tests.
To be honest I think this is more an issue / feature of the Swift keyboard rather than something on Connect / Khoros, however good the team here knows about this behavior.
Maybe it might be worth to write on the Swift keyboard community as well to understand if they have some sort of events connected to the underscore char, if they fire some keycodes then Connect might interpret it as something else and close the tagging dialog. I know in the past there was a discussion about the replacement of the underscore with spaces, if that’s the case then this would already explain the issue since a space closes the tagging dialog as names have no spaces here on Connect.
Interesting news to me that we can paste usernames after hitting @.
It never worked for me before. Testing again was successful but only after hitting space after pasting. That made the dropdown jump to the correct user. Really useful and a time saver.
As mentioned in another reply Gboard works so the problem is associated with swift only.
