Suggestions to Make the Street View Studio More User-Friendly

Ciao @Yotaroh

here you can find the GPX file that was truncated by a lack GPS signal.

I can modify it manually but, as you see (I’m using https://gpx.studio ) the track is quite long to do it by hand adding a point every 3 meters.

If I modify this GPX within gpx.studio, the new file is not working. Maybe I’m doing some mistake, but I do not know where.

Ciao

Hi @Yotaroh ,

thanks a lot! Seems that I successfully modified the original file.

Upload was accepted. Now I have just to wait that StreetView Studio precess it.

I updated the the that, if you want, you can find here. (Updated the shred folder)

Again, thanks for the support.

Take care

Ciao @Yotaroh ,

I have updated the GPX file and re submitted the file that is already available.

Files here and this is the new track

If you look at the mp4 the end is, as you mentioned, ending next to the sea but, even after the modification I did to the GPX, I was not able to have a BlueLine that reflect the end of the track.

I did manually modified the that now reflect the length of the mp4 (I think so) but without success. Looks the same of the previous blueline.

Should I modify also the Lat and Lon?

Do you have any advise or hints for me?

Thanks in advance

Marco

Hello, this message was shown to me today and it was a new message for me after 230 km of adding the street view of the Google map without any additional explanation. So far, I have sent my feedback to Street View support many times about the issues and events that have happened to me regarding Street View, but I have not received an answer in any case. In my opinion, the existence of a product or service without support has no value, and it is really unfortunate for the Google community that forum administrators and Google administrators refer you to unofficial Facebook forums.

@Siavash_T さん、こんにちは。

Street View

SteeetView Publish APIを使ってエラーを確認すると、詳細な理由は「FAILED_TO_REFINE_POSITIONS : The sequence of photos could not be accurately located in the world.」

Hello, in this last case that I reported, I can’t think of anything special. I feel that the problem is with Google’s processing and because they don’t want to accept it, it gives a GPS error, while if you see the area around the place where I filmed recently, it was completely in the open air. And there are no cars or pedestrians near me to interfere with my work, even I don’t have any other gadgets with me except my cell phone which I use as a GPS.
Google can at least provide a brief explanation or solution in one line or paragraph.
I strongly feel the existence of a special Street View community and I request the administrators of this forum to comply with our request

In some cases, the route is confirmed by Google and is displayed publicly, but instead of a blue line, it is seen point by point on the map.

@Siavash_T さん、こんにちは。

Video

Hello, regarding the case that did not reach the blue line, the filming time was 17 seconds, although it is short, but I recorded at least 20 cases with this time and even less, how can I record a 10-meter alley in a longer time? record? I even had another case where the recording time was more than 10 minutes and it did not reach the blue line and it showed as a dot and because I am sensitive to my performance in Street View and I did not want to present poor quality work even if it was wrong It’s not from my side, I deleted that item in order to film again in the future

One more thing I would like to discuss is why street view greatly reduces the quality of our original footage which is 5.7k. The quality of my original footage on the computer is amazing. What it shows in Street View is very low quality and I feel like Google is deliberately lowering the quality.

I still don’t understand the essence of the topic that continues from the top of this article, but
I will only respond to the latest topics.

The shortest video I’ve ever drawn of a blue line was 17 seconds.

I’d like to see a blue line created in a much shorter video. If possible, please let me know the video on Youtube and the URL of the SV tour.

Currently, the Street View system only uses frames at intervals of about 10 meters from the video, and draws a blue line using only those photos as constituent elements.

Therefore, even if you were able to draw a blue line for a 10m alley, you would probably only have two photos at each end in the blue line.

The solution I think is below: Of course, that doesn’t mean Google or other users will approve of that method. Please make your own decisions regarding whether or not to do so.

Method 1. Give up on drawing the blue line. With Blue Dot Street View, we can create precise tours using all the photos at any interval.
Method 2: Draw a longer blue line that includes the target 10m section.
Method 3. Increase the positional spacing of each photo (frame) of the target blue line and create a blue line tour using the expanded coordinate system at coordinates that are unrelated to the actual coordinates.

Using “Method 1” above may result in a street view that stands out more than the blue line in some cases, so I think it is a measure worth considering.
And if you have a frame (photo) that you absolutely must use, drawing a blue line is currently an inappropriate drawing method.
I sometimes use the technique of first drawing with a blue dot, then overlapping with a blue line.

“Method 2” is a common method used by people who draw blue lines every day.

“Method 3” is convenient for viewing photos within the target tour, but many viewing users will be confused because the coordinates are different from other information on Google Maps, so it will not be possible to connect.
However, some Street View business operators who only take photos indoors create Street View tours with arbitrary directions and distances, considering only the relative positional relationship of their target indoors, there are a few people who do.

I don’t have much knowledge about the image quality of Street View.
When it comes to video processing, we leave too much to the Street View system. (Judgement of photo orientation, image quality, zenith direction, etc.)
Of course, these are not things we are asking the Street View system to do, but it does mean that the Street View system will change them on its own, regardless of our intentions.
So if you create a blue dot tour it will be much less frustrating.

@Siavash_T there is an official SV support site but it is only accessible to members of Street View Trusted Photographers. That program is closed for new applicants and has been for some time.

GPS is a very fickle thing and not particularly accurate - the data needs to be smoothed. Unfortunately most 360 cameras and phones do not smooth the data before saving it. This problem can be exacerbated when sharing coordinates from phone to camera via blue tooth. To get the best out of GPS keep your devices active for at least a few minutes before you start to record video.
