Really enjoy all that snow in the mountains!

I can imagine the silence then in the evening: hearing only the sounds of the forest must be really relaxing.

I am glad you had such fun family days @KarenVChin !

It would also be nice to spend Christmas in such a beautiful place: it is a dream for many Europeans where Christmas combined with cold and snow is a must!
Thanks for sharing this memories with us!

Bye,

@FaridTDF - it always makes me smile when I think about where you live and your environment during the winter.

Compared to you, I can drive up, see, and play in the snow for several hours to several days and then drive home.

As I told you before, when I think of a Patagonia, I think of the outdoor sports company, not the actual place!

I would imagine the tourists who do visit Patagonia during the winter are snow adventurers - people who like to cross country ski, hike, ice fish.

Up here in Tahoe the weather does not get to -20C, maybe at most -10C at night!

I was encouraged by you and couldn’t pass up on a sale. My feet will be warm, comfy, and dry (waterproof snow boots) for the upcoming winter season.

As you know me, I am far from being a “snow adventurist,” more like a whimpy California. LOL. I like to play, but no need to rough it or camp in it! I am more of sit by the fire and drink hot cocoa with marshmallows, but look good doing it. = )

Cheers,

Karen

@marcorp - where do you live? I would imagine scrapping ice on your windshield can be a drag if you are doing it on a daily basis.

Where you caught up in the Polar Vortex in February?

Cheers,

Karen

@KashifMisidia - thanks for sharing your videos links. I would say you should go up to just experience it.

Learning how to ski is like learning how to balance. You can go learn with the kids on what we call the “bunny hill”

  • gentle slope. They will teach you how to properly fall.

It is a unique experience gliding on snow. Hard to describe, but you will be laughing a lot as you learn and to stand up, keep your balance.

There is sense of accomplishment once you can actually ski.

Keep us posted!

Cheers,

Karen

That is A LOT of snow @Dub81 ! You must have had the snow plouger on speed dial this winter!

Sounds like you will be having skiing until July like Tahoe.

I know the guys I rented some of snow gear in the Bay Area were amazed by my photos. They were telling me that the rental business has been great for them. Last year was amazing. This year was even better. After so many years of drought, anyone related to the snow and ski tourism is very happy!

I can imagine it can get real tiring living through it day-to-day though. Did you have to deal with the Polar Vortex?

Cheers,

Karen

@Mutaz1 - woww, I never thought Jordan can have snow! Do you live high in the mountains?

Tahoe is over 6,000 ft in elevation. At some of the surrounding ski resorts it can reach 9,000 ft.

Cheers,

Karen

@davidhyno , what is really quiet about our cabin is that there was hardly anyone around us. Many of the homes / cabins are rentals in the area where we were staying at. So, it was quiet 24/7, except for us loud people playing in our backyard.

Do you live near snow? I know @ErmesT does, being close to the Italian Alps. Do you partake in winter sports?

Cheers,

Karen
