I have an iPhone and my photos are constantly being synced to my cloud, so it can happen that by the time I review a place and attach the photos, they’re already in the cloud and only a lower resolution image is on my phone. Can that affect the upload? Is it possible, that some of my pictures are missing due to this? Or should my phone be downloading the original image when I am making a review and adding the photos?”
Hi @NoemiJ, there is indeed a chance that low quality photos may be removed from the Map. Please take a moment to read the Tips for posting media to Maps. If you think that your photos are okay and follow our guidelines, please fill in this form and the relevant team will investigate your contributions.

I’m still wondering though whether really a low resolution image is being uploaded or does the full size image gets dowloaded from icloud when reviewing on Google maps and adding pictures.
Like if you open a picture into any photo editing app / video into video editing app, they get dowloaded before you could import it/edit it in said photo/video editing app.
Does Google map forces the media to be downloaded or does it just take the low resolution one from the phone?
@NoemiJ, I think it depends where you take your photos from once you choose to add them to Google Maps. If you select your photos from Google Photos, they might have been compressed already depending on your settings. If you select them from your phone, they should be the same size. In any case, you can ask your question in the Google Maps help forum.
Hello @MoniDi I have been facing a similar problem where I was able to post 2 reviews on one day and tried 3 reviews on the next day, as I had some free time and wanted to start reviewing places I had gone to to build up my reviewer profile. And I am not able to see the 3 reviews I posted later publicly, while the other two reviews I posted earlier show up. Any restriction on number of review I can post within a 24 hour time period? Or would my reviews show up later? Thanks!
Your profile is set to restricted. If you want help to spot what could be the cause, you need to change your privacy setting as explained in Control who finds your Google Maps contributions article. Go to Your contributions, then Profile settings, then toggle Restricted profile. There is no restriction on the number of reviews you share in Google Maps. However, if you post too many all at once, the filters may detect it as spam.
Additionally, if this is your second account from which you wanted to share your issues with reviews, please note that this is against our rules. If you wish to continue in Local Guides, we ask that you exit the program from one of your accounts. If that’s not the case, please let us know.
You can also fill in this form and the relevant team can check your missing contributions.
Hello @MoniDi Thanks for the response! When I check my settings on google map app (iphone), I do not see the option of ‘restricted profile’ under Personal content. I have 2 gmail accounts and I have exited the local guide program on the other account. I wish to only review from this one and use the other one for my personal use. Can you help with the review restrictions on my account or let me know how I can do it (since I am unable to even view that option on my google maps app)? Thanks in advance!
Hello @MoniDi Still not able to see the function on how I can toggle ‘Restricted’ function. Tried both from Google maps app on phone and on PC. Is there any way google can help me with changing the restricted status to a normal profile?
Hi @Anitagrace102k, you are not restricted to share reviews. Your profile is set to restricted - that means others are not able to see your contributions if they go to your profile. Like I’ve shared here, please change who finds your Google Maps contributions.
