Alhamdulillah …senengnya ikutan MUN 4 ini …menjadi bagian yang bisa berkontribusi di kegiatan ini …sering ke Surabaya bolak balik…baru kali bisa eksplore lebih jauh mengenai kota dengan julukan yg melegenda sebagai kota pahlawan ini. The 4th Meet Up Nusantara (MUN) was held in Surabaya on July 18-20, 2025.
The history of MUN began with the first MUN held in Batu in 2017, followed by the second MUN in Yogyakarta in 2018, and the third MUN in Bandung in 2019. This year’s fourth MUN was held in Surabaya.

This is my first time participating in the fourth Meet Up Nusantara held in Surabaya, Indonesia.

Surabaya is the second largest city in Indonesia. The theme of the 4th MUN Surabaya was “Wani, Rek!”, an East Javanese term roughly meaning “Dare, Friends!”, encouraging participants to enthusiastically explore the places they visited in Surabaya, which are full of history and delicious cuisine.

Meet Up Nusantara is an important annual event for Local Guides from Indonesia. FYI, Nusantara is a term that refers to the entire Indonesian archipelago.

I was only able to join starting on the second day, July 19, 2025.
We started with registration at the Graha Widya Bhakti building, then headed to the Gunung Anyar Mangrove Botanical Garden in Surabaya. The committee facilitated our trip by bus. Activities there included learning about mangrove species, group games, and purchasing food from local small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

After the Gunung Anyar Mangrove Botanical Garden, we headed to the Bodrie Cafe for lunch. Next, we went to the Sports Museum. The activities there were quite enjoyable. We met athletes from Surabaya, such as Andik Vermansyah and Evan Dimas, an Indonesian soccer player from Surabaya.

Then, we headed to Peneleh Village, which was quite busy. We visited the birthplace of Bung Karno (Indonesia’s first president), the historic Langgar Dukur Kayu (the mosque), Sumur Jobong (a historic well from the Majapahit era), the house of HOS Cokroaminoto, and the Dutch Cemetery.

After visiting Peneleh Village, we headed to Taman Prestasi (Achievement Park), the starting point for the Kalimas nighttime boat tour. The Kalimas boat tour in Surabaya offers a unique experience cruising the river at night, a romantic atmosphere adorned with lanterns and the sparkling buildings along the Kalimas River.

This tour is a favorite destination due to its affordable price and beautiful views. After completing the tour, we headed to Taman Pendidikan for dinner and to explore the park’s collections.

The tour concluded with a sharing session by Mr. Budiono, one of Surabaya’s most famous content creators.

On the third day, July 20, 2025, we began with registration at the Graha Widiya Bhakti building, then proceeded to the Heroes Monument to explore and watch a theatrical performance entitled “Last Twilight in Kalikepiting (Senja terakhir di Kalikepiting)”. “Last Twilight in Kalikepiting” is a theatrical play performed by the Surabaya Colossal Front (FKS). This play depicts the historic battle in Surabaya, specifically in the Kalikepiting area. The performance is usually held in the Heroes Monument courtyard. “Last Twilight in Kalikepiting” tells the story of the struggle of Surabaya’s freedom fighters, including Moeljono and Sariredjo, against the British army to maintain independence. This play aims to reveal history and inspire the younger generation. then we visited the tenth of november museum.

The final destination was Kenjeran Beach Amusement Park and the closing ceremony. I couldn’t attend this one because I had a sudden work meeting to attend.

Alhamdulillah… Awesome event. The biggest and longest Indonesian National Meetup in the world.

Alhamdulillah, Meet Up Nusantara (MUN) yang sempat terjeda cukup lama sejak MUN 2017 di Kota Batu, MUN 2018 di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, dan MUN 2019 di Kota Bandung, akhirnya pecah telur di Kota Surabaya. Saya melihat, dari persiapannya saja, meet up kali ini akan lebih ramai dari MUN-MUN sebelumnya. Terbukti sudah, quota peserta di angka 150 Local Guides terpenuhi. Lebih banyak kota yang hadir. Dan lebih banyak Local Guides wajah baru yang terlihat sangat antusias mengikuti MUN untuk pertama kalinya. Terimakasih yo rek, kalian wani dan MUN 4 terselenggara dengan luar biasa dari awal hingga akhir
