The meetup in Detroit was scheduled within 2 hours of my flight arrival in Detroit.
Since the time of 4 pm EDT was 1:30 am IST, it was inconvenient to many in India.
@Erna_LaBeau and @keithlabeau showed immense patience at the airport to pick me up and drive to downtown Detroit ![]()
A few enthusiastic local guides from India joined online ![]()
Thanks a ton @Rkmahajan @Ssiddharth2000 and @ShreyaMusings
We decided to do a part-2 of the meetup on Friday, 5 June 2026, at 9 am Detroit time, which was a convenient 7 pm IST
Erna and I drove to the Millikan Park Lighthouse while Keith joined us from the hospital where he was admitted.
We did an accessibility check at the entrance, the walkway, and also noted the bike parking facilities.
The restrooms and the sustainability features near the lighthouse were remarkable.
We discovered a water bottle filler that saved the environment from plastic bottles ![]()
The lighthouse itself was very photogenic.
Even though the park is small, it’s full of character, from the boats and fishing areas to the well-kept pathways and greenery.
The parking right across the street was paid, however, though convenient for visitors.
Thanks to everyone who joined online

Videos on Google Maps
As part of the videowalk, I added these videos for the lighthouse to Google Maps, to give a good idea of the lighthouse and its surroundings to visitors.
