I consider it an honor, if one of my photos is featured, being aware, it can be replaced by somebody else’s media at any time. Google never tells us, how and how selects the featured photos, but we believe this done by an AI function using criteria none of us local guides understands - as far as I know. I am sure, it has nothing to do with reputation or status of the account.
This reminds me to two discussion we had here not so long ago:
- Somebody noticed that many of the cover photos are older than 2 or 3 years and several others, including myself confirmed it s true for many places. I believe, cover photos should be updated more frequently.
- A more recent discussion revealed, some “shuffling” with featured photos did happen, which means in several listing the featured media was replaced by other - probably the same, what you noticed.
Again, Google will never tell you, but looking at your profile, comparing the contributed and published media, you can see easily that 999 of your 18.563 photos and 1.955 are hidden to the public, i.e. rejected by the SPAM filter and I suggest reading @MortenCopenhagen’s series How to Get In and Out of Trouble: The Main post to get hints what may have caused that. But again, I don’t believe this is related to question whether or not other photos are featured.
