My Google Maps 2020 New Years Resolutions! What are yours?

LOVE this post, @Denise_Barlock - I love your resolutions so much, in fact, they’ve caused me to think about my own resolutions (as they hadn’t crossed my mind just yet, lol). Often due to the craziness of busy days, I can find myself missing out on contributions I’ve been meaning to make or not having a chance to visit LGC - as a lover of Google Calendar, I will make it my resolution to set down times during the day to contribute and visit LGC.

As far as Key West, I’m not sure of any particular Guides down there but there’s always the possibility of Guides visiting from elsewhere. A little early to confirm as I’m not usually down in Key West, BUT I’d love to be a part of it if you come down vs S.C. if possible.

Amazing resolutions… Each and every line attracted my attention, I read the whole article at least thrice.

@SP31 I created a spreadsheet and I put an X when I completed an item so that I can manage what I’ve done. hahahaha… maybe a little too much but it’s working for me for now :slightly_smiling_face:

@Denise_Barlock I think that’s fantastic - that is peak organization! : D This reminds me of @AdrianLunsong and his use of spreadsheets, haha.

@SP31 @AdrianLunsong Well… I used to do business value assessments for customers when I worked at IBM. I actually think in spreadsheets (probably much like Adrian does). It’s always fun when I can incorporate one into my retirement life. Wait til I make pivot tables with charts! Bawhahahahaha

@Denise_Barlock That’s so cool - thanks for providing that fun fact I did not know! : ) I would imagine you both definitely relate in that way, haha.

Wow @Denise_Barlock , that spreadsheet is just fantastic. I agree with @SP31 , you and @AdrianLunsong should be indeed related in the spreadsheet super powers ;-).

Thank you for sharing your beautiful organization (and dedication)!

Hi @Denise_Barlock ,

Thank you for this great post. Like, you, I frequently play games with myself to make things happen. Making commitments in public is the way to go.
Your story very much resonated with me.

Like you, I spend about 5 months a year as a nomad, living in something rather smaller than an RV. When I got a dog, camping in a tent was no longer a viable option, I ended up camping instead in a small van. So you can imagine, there are quite a few topics on your 2020 list that I am interested in. Thus, as of this moment, I am officially one of your followers on Local Guides Connect.

With regards to New Year’s resolutions, @AdrianLunsong asked the same and my answer was simple: more collaborations with others. Like you, I hosted some Meet-Ups with zero participants showing up and I have since filled that void by online meetings with fellow Local Guides.

I would love to do a special with you about living on wheels in connection to Google Maps. We could do it either on YouTube or Facebook whichever you prefer and whichever suits your blog’s followers. I don’t have an audience that is particularly interested in this topic, so let’s talk.

Happy Mapping New Year!

Looks like everybody has big plans for 2020! I do too but more will be revealed next month!! :slightly_smiling_face:

As for spreadsheets, it’s not about the complexity of the spreadsheets… it’s about being organised/structured and I definitely could not match @Denise_Barlock !! I’m far too lazy to follow a routine!! Lol! And I have not even used pivot tables so I’m way, way down the foodchain.

Anyway, all the best to everyone and wishing everybody a great 2020!

@JeroenM I’d love to do something with you! Let’s talk. The best platform to chat real-time is probably Facebook. Looking forward to working with you!

… And I really want to be successful in these resolutions so I’m trying to take every obstacle out of my way (which is mostly me forgetting) :slightly_smiling_face:

@AdrianLunsong Looking forward to seeing your plans! I’m still learning what everyone is doing to be successful and connect with other guides. I’m so glad I met so many motivated folks! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello @Velvel !!! It took me awhile to get my life back in order after Connect Live with visiting family and two holidays :slightly_smiling_face: I’m very excited to try to accomplish these resolutions. So far, I’m solid since December 22nd :slightly_smiling_face: Just hope I can keep it up as the days and life get busy again.

Yes… Disney is going to be fun and I’m trying now to figure out the best approach for a meetup. I want to plan it far enough in advance in case some may want to travel in. We’ll see!!

I LOVE this!!!

Do you mind if I copy it to create a similar one for myself for private?!

I think I will print out mine and put small star stickers on it like in school to motivate me to keep on track! Keep in at my desk!

@KarenVChin You know what I find most putting me off sometimes from taking pictures, doing video, etc, is the areas in the city are dangerous and there has been a lot of theft and stabbings recently, so I don’t feel as safe going out and making myself a target by taking out my phone at all… Unless I am with someone else

It’s discouraging. But I find myself only doing alot when I’m with my Hubby out and about… But I can’t do too much or he starts to complain I’m ignoring him  It’s a catch 22 really.

@TheRealKristin copy anything I do :upside_down_face:  I’m glad things I’m doing are helping others. I hear ya about the safety concerns and the partner participation issues. Both are big challenges. I’ve tried to get mine involved by asking him to help me not forget to get certain types of shots so he’s now more an enabler for me.
