Thanks to the google team for making life easier.
Great news, @Amiran
I see them too. I was wondering if “my” approved roads were marked also. But they are not.
And I don’t see a much-needed new tool to change the type of an existing road.
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers
Morten
What are the implications of this change? Will this make it safer and quicker to map a lot of new roads because we can submit them one by one and then connect the next new road to a pending road? If so this would enable us to gain more points and not risk a ton of work.
Cheers
Morten
Thanks @MrFreez It is really great to see Google is preparing more tools again to edit the roads.
Thank you @MortenCopenhagen
Yes, I was also hopeful to see approved roads for example as green but this isn’t applicable yet.
Still, lots of tools are needed to have a real complete road editing platform but I’m optimistic about the future changes.
Indeed I totally agree with you @MortenCopenhagen
This definitely increases the speed of road editing in one area. It not only helps us to do edits more accurately one by one which results in a higher approval rate, as experienced before, but also brings a better feeling about easy mapping and will involve eager users even more.
Thank you for the post dear friend @Amiran , as you said, it is really very helpful tool for road editing. Big thanks to google for providing this tool. Morning I edited some roads but didn’t notice this feature. Could you please confirm, is it rolled out in iOS?
Thanks @PrasadVR
It is only available on the road editing interface on the web and not the app yet, whether Android or iOS.
I hope we can see it on the app soon.
Thank you friend @Amiran for the kind clarification
With everything you @Amiran and some other local guides have been sharing here it looks like I will urgently need to make another “News & Updates” podcast episode soon…
This is great @JanVanHaver
Can’t wait to hear it.
Hi @WilfriedB , hi @Amiran
I did a small test to see the exact difference between “dotted orange” and “dashed lines”.
Referring to the below picture:
And I also found the difference between the two.
I’m working on a city where roads are less than 50%. This new system is extremely important and useful to see where I already added / edited roads so that I do not “re-edit” the same road (happened!!) Well, now you can connect a “dashed line” with a new one (the system show the connection with the small white dot) but tis do not happen if you create a new road that connect with a “dotted line”. There is no information / advice if the two lines are connected.
I did also this test but we have to wait till the system officially check and (hopefully) approve the new work
Let’s see
Thanks and take care
@JanVanHaver and now the entire community is waiting to hear your new episode!
@Amiran @MarcoDavoli silly me - I just realized that I have now increased the pressure for myself to come up with a new episode
Thanks a lot @MarcoDavoli for checking it.
In general, the Dotted Line is for the new drawings whether it is totally a new added road or a changed shape of an existing road.
And the Dashed Line is for the old shape of an edited road.
This is why you see both dotted and dashed lines for case B (more clear at the bottom one).
And you truly mentioned it. It is possible to connect a road only to a dashed line (and a not edited road as well) because it is a road that already exists.
As you told this new tool really helps to prevent duplicate road edits and gives a better sense of what we have edited in one area generally.
No. It is a wise note @JanVanHaver because every new episode makes us happy.
Cheers
Now after a few days, as I experienced, I think the visibility of the approved road (for example by dark green) is really needed because it is hard to detect which roads are approved to continue it, rather than checking the email accurately and this takes more time.
And it would be even better if we could see the denied roads, too (for example by red). Finally, a filter to enable/disable the different statuses of road edits will be even more helpful.
We can always hope for more improvements. Perfectly fair.
I just made a test. I believe it is possible to suggest new roads and connect them to pending roads. That in itself is a great improvement.
All the best
Morten
I was afraid to test it to prevent denial But yesterday I tested one. Let’s see the result.
Hi @Amiran ,
recently, I’ve dedicated a significant amount of time to editing, or rather, re-editing all the “Not approved” roads. My ratio of “not approved” edits is actually quite low. However, as we’re aware, among the roads marked as “Not approved” we find all the one not processed in the last three months and are converted into a “NOT APPROVED” status.
I completely agree with your suggestion of having a new color, perhaps red as you’ve suggested, for the “Not approved” roads.
There are moments when it becomes challenging, during the re-editing process, to quickly identify where the not approved roads are located.
Furthermore, I do support the idea of having a filter that allows us to disable/enable and, if possible, delete the status of road edits. It’s puzzling why I have a list of 1500 approved edits that I cannot remove, as I’m simply not interested in keeping them.
Let’s work together to enhance the user experience and streamline the editing process. Your suggestions are valuable, and I believe they can contribute significantly to our efforts.
and, in replay at @MortenCopenhagen when he said “I believe it is possible to suggest new roads and connect them to pending roads.” I did it and it works!
In These days I had the opportunity to really appreciate how useful is the new “orange/white” color . I’m concentrate on Marocco and they give me a really help ! but… the buffer is suffering.
Take care
Ciao
Marco
Thanks a lot for your complete review @MarcoDavoli
Yes, Currently it is challenging to re-edit the Not Applied ones and we need more improvements.
I’m definitely happy to participate for a better interface which results in better mapping.
And thanks for testing that feature. It is good news that it really works.
