Well @efcxp it looks like your points data was not updated until after the data for September was read at 0635 on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 (UTC) (see FAQ #2 in the Readme section). I must admit that this month I started the Leaderboard data processing pretty much on time. You must leave yourself a little bit more margin.

Bonjour à tous et un grand merci @AdamGT pour cet énorme travail fourni pour éditer tous ces classements, encore ce mois-ci. Je suis bien sûr content de voir que ma photo star est encore là et qu’elle fait pas mal de vues, mais je reste lucide, conscient du fait qu’il y a une énorme part de chance dans ce résultat — donc le contrôle m’échappe totalement. Cela prendra fin un jour, j’ai lu ici et là des commentaires sur un remplacement en cours des étoiles présentes depuis longtemps. Alors, qui sait ? C’est peut-être déjà la fin ? Les étoiles ne sont-elles pas faites pour s’éteindre ?

Where have you read this @claude_richard? I know its a bit unrealistic comparing stars with high views from the old system, with newer photos where views are counted under the new system. But how would a replacement happen, other than the old photo being removed from Maps altogether?

Il y a peu de temps 2 LG faisaient part de leurs observations sur ce sujet. J’ai lu et j’ai supprimé les conversations, on ne peut pas tout conserver ! Tu crois quoi ? Que les photos bien placées en 1 ou en 2 sur une épingle, vont rester en place à vie ? Ça nous arrive à tous d’avoir le message de Google : “Votre photo a été mise en avant” et la photo en question remplace une photo à la une depuis longtemps, et ça n’a rien à voir avec le nombre de vues ou la date de comptabilisation ou de comptage. C’est l’algorithme qui décide. Et les règles sont les mêmes pour chacun d’entre nous. Point final.
I don’t understand this. I’ve never seen this message. Can you post a screenshot of an example? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thank you so much for your kind words of appreciation @claude_richard. Yes stars do go out LOL but some sooner than others or just become red stars but in your case it seems that you have a very bright star that continues to shine brightly.
Like @tony_b has mentioned, I’m not aware of comments talking about a replacement in progress of the stars that have been there for a long time and in fact I see some stars shining even brighter than ever but sadly, that’s not case with my star

@tony_b the original text in @claude_richard’s post says “Votre photo a été mise en avant”, which I believe is the same as “Your photo is featured” (or “Steht an exponierter Stelle” in German.) , that is it either appears as the banner or in one of the first positions of the list. My understanding of Claude’s point here is the fact a photo is featured, doesn’t necessarily mean, you will see a high number of views and vice versa some photo show a high number without being featured and we are wondering why this happened.

@tony_b Voici une copie d’écran d’une notification de ce type. Je ne fais pas systématiquement la copie d’écran, mais cette photo me tenait à cœur.
Je maintiens ce que j’ai dit : j’ai eu le message 2 ou 3 minutes après la publication de la photo. La photo a été placée en numéro 1 de l’épingle en question, et oui elle fait forcément plus de vues que si elle était moins bien classée.

Merci @WilfriedB , en fait plus la photo est classée proche du numéro 1 plus il y a de chances qu’elle enregistre des vues. Par contre on ne sait jamais combien de temps elle va rester bien placée, jusqu’à ce que l’algorithme place une autre photo en remplacement.

Thanks @Annaelisa for bringing this to my attention. I have now fixed this problem introduced when I implemented the new Maps Reviews leaderboards. Sadly, there may well be other similar new errors but rest assured, we will fix these if and when they crop up.
