@ErmesT Thanks for sharing such a great content that is basically about how to contribute in helpful manner to Google maps.

All the points are valid in the content that is basically observation made by you from contribution of local guide.

I have not done so much mistakes except posting one or two photos while something is in front of the that place but will keep all the points in my mind contributing next time to Google maps.

Thanks for the feedback @Anshu3

BTW, there is an additional tip that I want to share with you: Never say “next time

Next time can be too late, If your feeling is that you have made some mistake, the best thing you can do is to fix it.

You may find interesting this post: What photos should I share on Google Maps? and the tip at the end of it:

"What not to share

  • Do not upload duplicate photos. Sharing the same photo more than once on one location or across multiple locations is a violation of our rules and policies and may result in your removal from the program.
  • Avoid sharing selfies and group photos. These photos don’t help to represent the location, so save them for a different platform.
  • Avoid sharing low quality photos. Dark and blurry photos, or photos with low resolution don’t give helpful information about the location and may be removed.

Do you think you may have shared photos on Google Maps that go against our guidelines, rules, and policies? Go through your photo contributions, remove any photos and videos that may be considered irrelevant or spam, and help others easily find useful information."

@ErmesT

Fully agree with you and we all should believe in “Qualitative than Quantitative”

Thanks for this eye opening post.

We cannot save the world @LuigiZ

But of course we can share our point of view.

Hopefully someone else will start to think about contributing on an appropriate way even if, I agree with Olga, we need an automated system to prevent the “unwanted mistakes”.

For the “intentional” mistake, I can only share my point of view

Hi @ErmesT

Well explained. What we do should be useful to others and not an hindrance. From the beginning I used to be choosy. Nowadays when I search, I am getting irrelevant pictures. This post is worthy reading by all LGs.

Thank you for the feedback @Ruxellan , very appreciated

Do you have any other tip for the Local Guides, to check if they are contributing on a good way?

Thank you so much @Bilal_shaikh

Hope you can spread this message. Unfortunately it seems that a lot of Local Guides do not understand this, and many business are invaded of a sea of selfies, and irrelevant contributions. This is sad and, as a Map User, very disturbing

I am glad you appreciate this post @Muhammad_Usman

It is a long time that I want to write this post, but my feeling is that today, The first day for applying to Connect Live, is the best moment for inviting the Local Guides to check their contributions.

Do you have any tip to add?

Thank you so much @marcorp

Me too, I am slowly moving to L10 (it will takes year).

I am always surprised when I see people rising up very very fast, and at the beginning I was thinking that I was not contributing enough.

I can tell you that most of them are no longer Local Guides. Wonder why?

@ErmesT yes, it’s because they do not enjoy the ride… You have to really like what you do, if not, dora not last… Happens with Jobs, relationships, even hobbies.

Thank you @aaryesdee

It is a pleasure to see a Local guide with your experience here on my post.

Do you have some other tip to add as a suggestion for better contributing, that we can share to the new Local Guides?

@ErmesT

Thank you so much for responding to my comment. Matter of fact, you are trying to enlighten LG’s on their responsibilities which should and shall result useful to humanity. Indeed happy to see you as a crusader in this mission.

Thank you so much @Gurukrishnapriya , feel free to share it, if you think it can help.

Me too, I find quite disturbing, when I search for something, to find irrelevant photos.

BTW, I can understand the mistake, none of us were born Local Guide. But, I do not accept the trick to add irrelevant photos to get more point, making Google Maps totally useless for everyone.

Being a Moderator I see many post of Local Guide who ask about point reduction, but normally I do not wont to point out some specific contribution. I believe that they know already why they were loosing points.

Local Guide should be funny and helpful on the same time. If you loose the idea that you are helping others, well, contributing makes no sense

Thanks a lot @ErmesT for your reply. This is also one reason why I am still struggling in Level 7 itself. Also because of my leg injury I didn’t travel for more than 3 months. Hope in the near future I take up travel.

Please forgive my Espanol, I can understand it but is difficult for me to write in Spanish :slightly_smiling_face:

Do you want to add some suggestions?
