Leaderboards of the Top 100 Most Viewed Photos

Update vieuws at the moment. Greatings from Belgium!

@AdamGT I think one of mine might have been featured on the Statue of Liberty for a while, it got just over 5,073,289 views today https://goo.gl/maps/rMiVux3SLJpdaKAJ6

Maps Place Statue of Liberty

Maps Category Historical Landmark

Date of photo Oct 2019

Is this my best photo? No - its an interesting one and gives a good feel of the place but compositionally its not amazing

I suspect this got featured because it got most of its views in one day and while it still creeps up its not going up quickly its at 5,089,586 today so grew only another 16K over the last 24 hours.

This was taken with a Pixel 3XL phone

Compared to your previous “star photo” of that computer store, given that your new star is of one of the most popular landmarks in the world, it’s a great POI to have your photo featured @PaulPavlinovich , well done! Compositionally it might not be amazing but it’s certainly interesting. Just out of interest and for comparative purposes, what is the current view count of your previous star and is it still up there near the most viewed? This is one I took in 2018.

The previous star is still climbing @AdamGT 4,650,939 so the lowly computer shop isn’t too far of the amazing landmark.

4 Best is yet to come
5 Being beautifully composed & Captured,
showing one of the entrances,
Boat & trailing waves adds motion to stillness, making it more interesting
6 Above reasons made it a Banner photo couple of times, and thus the increased viewership

Just wondering, does % contribution of Star Photo view to overall Photo views will add some insight !!
For eg in my case Star photo view (485,070) to Total Photo views (1,706,869) has 28.42% contribution; almost 1/3rd of the lot…
Same Star photo with same views out of bigger no of Total photo views will give lower percentage…
Thus highlighting strength of Star photo in a way…

Shared just a thought…might be of interest. :bulb:

Thanks @AdamGT for your prompt action… Well appreciated.
Seems Data for ‘Date uploaded’ & ‘Star views date’ need to align as per inputs.

@AdamGT Same issue for this table

‘Date of Upload’ shall be Oct 2020…
Sorry for the confusion, if created from my side.

Hi @nishchal_s

Firstly I think your “star photo” is amazing, beautiful colors and very sharp, in fact crystal clear and it’s no wonder it has been the feature image for the park on more than one occasion. That iPhone X is in a great hands  The park looks like a beautiful tranquil place to visit. I do share your view about the strength of the “star photo” and commented on this as a possible metric not so long ago in regards to the “star photo” of a Fast food restaurant in Dhaka, Bangladesh by @Faisal-Ahmedwhich had almost 50% of total views! Something to think about but my guess is that such metric would be more significant when one has a smaller number of photos. Thanks for noting the errors in the ‘Date uploaded’ and ‘Star views date’ which have been corrected now. Also, thanks for your appreciation Nischal :slightly_smiling_face:

@AdamGT
How often, one is supposed to post updates?
Can it be a monthly event too! with a tentative fixed date… so all can update/post during same time…so rankings will be more collaborative & comparative!
Dates can differ by a week or two from other leaderboard… so as to keep the excitement & Momentum alive longer, and less of work overload on You

Hello @nishchal_s

Yes the main issue here that I need each participating Local Guide to provide their respective “star views” value as unlike the case of the Top 100 Photo Views Leaderboards, the information I need to keep the Most Viewed Leaderboards up to date is not public. In this regard, in the section titled To update your data I mentioned that this data should be provided not less than monthly and I also explained the consequence of not providing this data.

Thanks @AdamGT for clarifying.
Same concerns i had in mind… and in back of mind was sure it must be all well covered already by you…
And Yes it is… very well explained too.
Thanks again for all your efforts & awesomeness.

Maps Category - This is a photo of a Chinatown restaurant’s building. It was a permanent shut down probably only a week ago when I got there. I was just passing by when I saw the big banner that says WE ARE MOVING TO JINNAH SUPER MARKET ON FEB 01, 2020. I was quite shocked to see that because I often go and enjoy Chinese food in the Chinatown restaurant. It was then when it decided perhaps i should take another of my clicks because it was the need of the hour so people would know the restaurant has moved to a new location. I didn’t even come out of my car to take a proper photo. I took the shot right from where I parked my car. I regret later that I could have at least zoomed the banner that would make it rather more clear.

Date of my Star Photo - It was on February 06, 2020. The meta date and the uploaded date are the same. Actually I took the shot and uploaded it right away.

If this is my best photo - You kiddin’? This is definitely not the best of my photos. In fact, it’s the other way round. I can’t remember the last time I took a photo like that. I mean seriously, if you ask me (even if you look at it closely) there is nothing special about it. It’s below average photo. As a matter of fact, when I took this shot I spoke to myself what’s the point of taking photos like that? (especially from a car???)

Tell us why you think it’s your “star photo” - I suppose it’s all about the right click at the right time. You do not have to be a PRO in order to get the most hits at least when you’re a google local guide. I’m not saying you should take bizarre-often ugly looking clicks. All I am saying is that you’ve to be there when people needed you. Leaving the quality or the angle behind, I believe this is the best photo from other people’s perspective because it saved their precious time by not visiting Chinatown from that date.

The important factors that contribute to photo view stats - a) The closing or opening of the restaurants is vital (in this case, closing). b) In this case, the BANNER that clearly says that they have moved to an altogether new location might have possibly contributed to my photo views.

What camera did you use - Since the time I decided to become a Google Local Guide somewhere in January 2019 I’ve have been using my cellphone camera because I just can’t carry my heavy DSLR just about anywhere. More than 80% of my pics are taken from my Google Pixel 3 XL. I just love the camera quality of my Pixel. The more I use it the more I love it. It won’t be wrong to assume that it’s the Pixel camera that encourages me to take as many photos as I could.
