3. What led you to become a Local Guide:
Growing up in Vietnam and working as a university lecturer has given me many opportunities to travel, explore new places, and connect with different communities. Whether I am attending academic conferences, conducting research, or simply enjoying a family trip, I always pay attention to the places that make each destination unique.
I became a Local Guide because I believe that sharing honest experiences can help others make better decisions. A detailed review, a helpful photo, or a practical tip can save travelers time and help local businesses gain visibility.
For me, contributing to Google Maps is more than writing reviews. It is about creating a trustworthy source of information that helps people discover the best experiences, whether they are visitors exploring a new city or local residents looking for hidden gems in their own neighborhood.
4. My favorite thing to explore:
I enjoy exploring places that combine culture, history, education, and local cuisine.
Some of my favorite discoveries include historical landmarks, museums, universities, coffee shops, local restaurants, and destinations that showcase the unique character of a city. I particularly enjoy finding places that may not be widely known but offer memorable experiences and exceptional service.
As someone who works in higher education and research, I am naturally curious about how different communities develop, preserve their traditions, and create value for visitors.
5. Fun fact about me:
I often combine business travel, academic conferences, and sightseeing into a single trip. It is not unusual for me to spend the morning presenting research at a conference and the afternoon exploring local attractions, tasting regional food, and documenting my experiences on Google Maps.
Another fun fact is that I rarely leave a place without taking photos. What starts as “just one picture” often turns into dozens of photos that eventually become part of my Local Guides contributions.
